FindaProperty
FindaProperty.com, prior to a 2012 merger with Zoopla, was a commercial sales and lettings listings website for the UK consumer residential housing market. It had offices in London and Brighton and listed approximately a million properties uploaded by estate agents for a monthly fee. In April 2012 the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) agreed a merger between findaproperty.com and Zoopla. Since the merger the findaproperty.com brand was deprecated and the findaproperty.com domain now points to the Zoopla website. The portal was started in 1997 by businessman and entrepreneur Andrew Pendery who had experience of the US property market and saw a gap in the UK one for an online listings portal. He began the site in his London bedroom and with the help of salesman Ferenc Schustek, achieved initial growth. He then moved the business to Brighton at offices in West Street and later, Dyke Road. The site's first listings were in London and Surrey, the UK's busiest property markets and 'hot-sp ...

Globrix
Globrix was a UK real estate search engine that was launched in January 2008. It was launched as a joint venture with News International, publishers of ''The Sunday Times'', '' The Sun'', ''The Times'', ''The News of the World'' and ''Thelondonpaper''. Estate agents and letting agents could list their properties for free. This competed with traditional paid-listings sites such as Rightmove (originally a joint venture between four of the UK's largest property agents, now a public limited company)Propertyfinder(also partly backed by News International) and Primelocation (owned by Daily Mail and General Trust). Unlike most property websites, Globrix directed users to agent websites rather than hosting the property details and capturing the lead on Globrix itself. Globrix gathered its property listings in three different ways; crawling agent websites, taking data feeds and by agents manually uploading via the Globrix extranet. Because Globrix was 'free to list', Globrix was able to gai ...

Quenelle (gesture)
The () is a gesture created and popularized by France, French comedian Dieudonné M'bala M'bala. He first used it in 2005 in his Sketch comedy, sketch entitled "1905" about French secularism, and has used it since in a wide variety of contexts. The quenelle became popular, with many photos posted to the Internet showing individuals posing while performing quenelles at mundane places (wedding parties, high school classes, etc.). In late 2013, following its use by professional footballer Nicolas Anelka during a match, Jewish leaders, anti-racism groups, and public officials in France have interpreted it as an inverted Nazi salute and as an expression of antisemitism. French officials have sought to ban the gesture due to its perceived subtext of antisemitism. Origin The name comes from a dish of elongated fish balls, said to resemble a suppository. Hence, the phrase "" ('to slide a '), with a gesture evoking fisting practice, is similar to the English insults "up yours" and "u ...

Automated Valuation Model
An Automated Valuation Model (AVM) is a system for the valuation of real estate that provides a value of a specified property at a specified date, using mathematical modelling techniques in an automated manner. AVMs are Statistical Valuation Methods and divide into Comparables Based AVMs and Hedonic Models. Other Statistical Valuation Methods are House Price Indices and Single Parameter Valuations. Comparables Based AVM vs. Hedonic Models Comparables Based AVMs select comparables for each individual valuation based on the characteristics of the property to be valued. They therefore operate similarly to how an appraiser would work when valuing properties through the sales comparison approach. Hedonic Models on the other hand try to isolate the impact of individual property characteristics in the form of pre-calculated parameters. When doing a valuation using hedonic models no actual comparison or automated processes take place, but the value is instead calculated by filling propert ...
