Zia Ahmed (officer)
Zia Ahmed psc was a major general of the Bangladesh Army and former chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission. Early life Ahmed was born on 26 July 1954 in Sujanagar Upazila, Pabna District, East Pakistan, Pakistan. His father was Sarder Jayenuddin, a notable poet. He graduated from Tejgaon Polytechnic High School and Notre Dame College, Dhaka. Career Ahmed was commissioned in the Signals Corps of Bangladesh Army in 1975. Ahmed had served in the United Nations Operation in Mozambique. Ahmed was sent into forced retirement from Bangladesh Army during the 2001 to 2006 Bangladesh Nationalist Party government with the rank of brigadier general. After Awami League came to power in 2009, Ahmed was promoted to Major General and appointment chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission in February 2009. Bangladesh Army
The Bangladesh Army is the land warfare branch and the largest component of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. Bangabandhu Satellite 1
The Bangabandhu Satellite-1 (''Bangabandhu-1'') is the first Bangladeshi geostationary communications and broadcasting satellite. It is named after the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It was manufactured by Thales Alenia Space and launched on 12 May 2018. The satellite was the first payload launched by a SpaceX Falcon 9 Block 5 launch vehicle. Background The project is being implemented by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) working hand-in-hand with US-based Space Partnership International, LLC. Khaleda Zia (; born Khaleda Khanam Putul in 1945) is a Bangladeshi politician who served as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh from March 1991 to March 1996, and again from June 2001 to October 2006. She was the first female prime minister of Bangladesh. She is the widow of former President of Bangladesh Ziaur Rahman. Grameenphone, widely abbreviated as (d/b/a) GP, is the leading telecommunications service provider in Bangladesh, with 83.02 million subscribers (as of January 2022). Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) ( bn, বাংলাদেশ টেলিযোগাযোগ নিয়ন্ত্রণ কমিশন) is an independent commission founded under the Bangladesh Telecommunication Act, 2001 (Act # 18 of 2001). The BTRC is responsible for regulating all matters related to telecommunications (wire, cellular, satellite and cable) of Bangladesh.
