Zhoushuizi
Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport is the airport serving the city of Dalian in Liaoning Province, China. It is located in Ganjingzi District, about northwest of the city center. In 2018 the airport handled 18,758,171 passengers, making it the busiest airport in Northeast China and the 24th busiest nationwide. The airport is the hub for Dalian Airlines and a focus city for China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines. As Zhoushuizi Airport has reached its designed capacity, the new Dalian Jinzhouwan International Airport is being built on reclaimed land to replace it. History Zhoushuizi was originally an insect-infested marsh, called "Choushuizi" () or "smelly waters" by nearby residents. During the late Qing dynasty, it became a racecourse for horse racing. China's Busiest Airports By Passenger Traffic
China's busiest airports are a series of lists ranking the 100 busiest airports in Mainland China according to the number of total passengers, including statistics for total aircraft movements and total cargo movements, following the official register yearly since 2000. The data here presented are provided by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and these statistics do not include the results for the Special administrative regions of China, special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau, or the disputed region of Taiwan. Both Hong Kong and Macau have their own civil aviation regulators (the Civil Aviation Department (Hong Kong), Civil Aviation Department and the Civil Aviation Authority (Macau), Civil Aviation Authority respectively); Taiwan also has its own civil aviation regulator (the Aviation Safety Council). Dalian Airlines Co Ltd is an airline based at Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport in Dalian, Liaoning, China. It is jointly owned by Air China, investing RMB 800 million in cash to hold an 80% stake in the new company, and Dalian Baoshui Zhengtong Co, investing RMB 200 million for the remaining 20%. Dalian Airlines provides both passenger and cargo services. The airline launched operations on 31 December 2011. History On 5 July 2011, CAAC, China's civil aviation regulator, granted Air China and Dalian Baoshui Zhengtong Co permission to establish Dalian Airlines Co Ltd. This follows an agreement reached between Air China and the Dalian government in 2010. The government of Dalian had closed a similar deal with HNA Group, parent of Hainan Airlines, before. Dalian Jinzhouwan International Airport
Dalian Jinzhouwan International Airport is an airport being built to serve the city of Dalian in Liaoning Province, northeast China. Once open it will replace the existing Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport as the city's main airport. It is being built on of reclaimed land off the coast of Dalian. Expected to open in 2026, it is set to become the world's largest offshore airport. Background Dalian is currently served by Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport, which has been used for both military and commercial flights since 1924 when Dalian was Japan's leased territory. As air traffic skyrocketed, the airport was expanded four times, in 1992, 1993, 2005, and 2011, and served more than 13 million passengers in 2012, ranking 15th in China.
