Zuckerbaby
Zuckerbaby is an Alberta-based rock band that had some success in Canada during the late 1990s. The band formed out of local Calgary groove band Calliope. The band was known for its power pop influences and the thick lead guitar sounds of Reed Shimozawa, an alumnus of Calgary-based hair metal band Smash L.A. "Andromeda", "Heavy" and "Shampoo" were singles released from their debut, self-titled album. Their second CD "Platinum Again" was released in 2000 and two singles were released from it ; "Overexposure" and "Holiday". The band was dropped from its label when Mercury Records was reorganized under Universal Music. On 28 August 2015, the band reunited with the appearance of original members, Andy Eichorn and Reed Shimozawa, who were joined by two local Calgary musicians for a one-time live opening show at the Marquee Beer Market and Stage with headlining band Age of Electric. Sugarbaby (film)
''Sugarbaby'' is the English title of the 1985 German film ''Zuckerbaby'' by Percy Adlon, starring Marianne Sägebrecht, made in Germany. Plot Marianne is a middle-aged, overweight, slovenly and lonely assistant to a funeral director in Munich. Her life revolves around relaxing in an indoor swimming pool, commuting on the subway between her apartment and the funeral home, and munching candy bars in bed while watching television, which is how she revisits her teenage "crush" for the pop singer Peter Kraus and his hit "Sugar Baby". On one trip she becomes aware of the train driver, attracted by his announcing voice. He is young, tall, lean and blond (not unlike Kraus), and Marianne becomes obsessed. Todd Kerns
Todd "Dammit" Kerns is a Canadian musician who has worked with several Canadian bands, most notably The Age of Electric. Kerns is currently the bass guitarist and back up vocalist for Slash in the band Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators. Career 1989–2000 The Age of Electric etc. Kerns fronted and played guitar in the hard rock band The Age of Electric, with his brother John Kerns on bass, Ryan Dahle on guitar, backing vocals, and Kurt Dahle on drums and backing vocals. Paul Rudolf Parsifal "Percy" Adlon (; born 1 June 1935) is a German director, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for his film ''Bagdad Cafe''. He is associated with the New German Cinema movement (ca. 1965–1985), and has been noted for his strong female characters and positive portrayals of lesbian relationships. Kurt Colin Dahle is a Juno Award winning, Grammy nominated Canadian musician. Dahle is best known for his work as a drummer and vocalist with the rock bands Age of Electric, Limblifter, and The New Pornographers. Ryan Dahle (born 1970) is a Canadian musician, best known for his contributions to the bands Age of Electric and Limblifter, each of which have scored several major radio hits. The Age of ''Electric'' The Age of Electric was a band founded in 1989 that consisted of two sets of brothers, Ryan and Kurt Dahle, and Todd and John Kerns. Originally named just "Electric", the band got their start by playing original music in cover song clubs. Matthew Good Band was a Canadian alternative rock band formed in Coquitlam, British Columbia in 1995. The band consisted of singer-songwriter/guitarist Matthew Good, guitarist/keyboardist Dave Genn, drummer Ian Browne and bassist Geoff Lloyd. Lloyd was replaced by Rich Priske in 1998. David Robert Madison Genn is a Canadian musician, producer, and songwriter. He is a member of the rock group 54-40, and a former member of the Matthew Good Band. Early life Genn was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, on 2 March 1969. He is the son of artist G Robert Genn. Career Dead Surf Kiss (DSK) Dave Genn was a member of Vancouver psychedelic, punk, hard rock, band Dead Surf Kiss, named after their love of The Grateful Dead, Surf music, and KISS. They had several releases, the first of which was titled "Narcotic Nevada" via Vancouver label "Onslot Music" in 1991. The album was produced by Dave Ogilvie (Skinny Puppy) and Dan Tanna. Limblifter
Limblifter is a Canadian alternative rock group from Vancouver, formed in 1996. History The group was originally formed by brothers Ryan Dahle and Kurt Dahle, as a side project from their main band, Age of Electric, along with a third member, Ian Somers. Their self-titled 1996 album, recorded after a mere 10 practices, spawned the Canadian rock radio hits "Tinfoil", "Vicious" and "Screweditup", but the band was hindered by staff alterations at their label Mercury Records. The group went on hiatus when Age of Electric regrouped for their 1997 album '' Make a Pest a Pet''. When AOE subsequently broke up, Limblifter became the Dahles' primary band.
