Zimbabwe Fed Cup Team
The Zimbabwe Fed Cup team represents Zimbabwe in Fed Cup tennis competition and are governed by Tennis Zimbabwe. They have not competed since 2008. History Zimbabwe competed in its first Fed Cup in 1966, as Rhodesia. In the opening match, they defeated Austria in a clean sweep (3-0) with Patricia Walkden recording the first victory for the team. In the second round, they would lose to Italy by the same margin to record their best result of the round of 16. After losing to the United States in 1967 and 1972 (they entered 1971 but withdrew), they entered the consolation round and they would knock over Norway in the first round of consolation before losing to Japan in the doubles rubber to be knocked out. After they withdrew again in 1975, they entered the 1976 edition hoping for a better display. 1966 Federation Cup (tennis)
The 1966 Federation Cup was the fourth edition of what is now known as the Fed Cup. 21 nations participated in the tournament, which was held at the Turin Press Sporting Club in Turin, Italy from 10–15 May. United States won their second title, defeating West Germany in the final, in what was the first final not featuring Australia. Valeria Bhunu
Valeria Bhunu (born 3 April 1995) is a Zimbabwean tennis player. Bhunu has won two singles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit. On 14 November 2016, she reached her best singles ranking of world No. 497. On 21 November 2016, she peaked at No. 534 in the doubles rankings. In 2015, she played for Zimbabwe in the 2015 African Games The 11th African Games took place from September 4–19, 2015 in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo. This edition marked the 50th anniversary of the Games, as well as their return to Brazzaville, which hosted the first edition in 1965. Daphne Pattison
Daphne Hazel Botha (born 12 June 1948) is a South African former professional tennis player. Raised in Orange Free State, Botha married tennis player Andrew Pattison in 1971, after which she represented her husband's country of Rhodesia on tour. Botha made the singles second round at Wimbledon twice, registering main draw wins over Marie Neumannová and Glynis Coles. Her only third round appearance came in mixed doubles, with husband Andrew in 1972. In the 1972 Federation Cup she represented Rhodesia in the competition for the only time and played in three ties, including a World Group first round fixture against the United States.
