Zima (drink)
Zima Clearmalt was a clear, lightly carbonated alcoholic beverage made and distributed by the Coors Brewing Company. Introduced in 1993, it was marketed as an alternative to beer, an example of what is now often referred to as a cooler, with 4.7–5.4% alcohol by volume. Its production in the United States ceased in October 2008, but it was still marketed in Japan until 2021. On June 2, 2017, MillerCoors announced a limited release of Zima for the U.S. market. It was sold again in the U.S. in the summers of 2017 and 2018, but did not return in 2019. History Zima means "winter" in many Slavic languages. It was launched nationally in the United States as Zima Clearmalt in 1993 after being test-marketed two years earlier in the cities of Nashville, Sacramento, and Syracuse. The lemon-lime drink was part of the "clear craze" of the 1990s that produced products such as Crystal Pepsi and Tab Clear. Zima ( rus, Зима, p=zʲɪˈma; bua, Зэмэ, ''Zeme'') is a town in Irkutsk Oblast, Russia, located at the point where the Trans-Siberian Railway crosses the Oka River. Population: Geography The town is situated on a low-lying plain, heavily water-logged. The Zima River joins the Oka in the town's vicinity. Climate The local climate is extremely continental; air temperature varies between in winter to in summer. History The village of ''Staraya Zima'' () on the present site of the town was established in 1743. In 1772, its population began to grow more quickly due to the construction of a horse-tract from Moscow which crossed the Oka River. Until the 1900s, Zima remained a roadside, mainly agricultural village. In 1898, the Trans-Siberian railway was built through the village and a railroad station was opened. ''Zima Blue and Other Stories'' (2006, , republished in 2009 as ''Zima Blue'', ) is the first collection of short works by Alastair Reynolds. It was published in September 2006, by Night Shade Books. It includes ten stories, most of them long out of print. None of the stories in it are set in Reynolds's well-known ''Revelation Space'' universe, although ''Galactic North'', a collection of most of Reynolds's Revelation Space short stories, was released soon after. There is a limited edition (2006, ) with an extra story, "Digital to Analogue", and with Reynolds's signature. "Digital to Analogue" was originally published in the 1992 anthology '' In Dreams''. This is a list of the main characters from the manga and anime series ''Chobits'' by Clamp. The series tells the story of Hideki Motosuwa, who finds an abandoned ''persocom'', or personal computer with human form, that he names Chi after the only word she initially can speak. As the series progresses, together they explore the mysteries of Chi's origin and questions about the relationships between humans and persocoms.
