Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe (), officially the Republic of Zimbabwe, is a landlocked country located in Southeast Africa, between the Zambezi and Limpopo Rivers, bordered by South Africa to the south, Botswana to the south-west, Zambia to the north, and Mozambique to the east. Herbert Zim
Herbert Spencer Zim (July 12, 1909 – December 5, 1994) was a naturalist, author, editor and educator best known as the founder (1945) and editor-in-chief of the Golden Guides series of nature books. Biography Zim was born 1909 in New York City, but spent his childhood years in southern California. At the age of fourteen he returned to the east. He took his degrees (B.S. biologia, M.S. biologia, Ph.D. botanica) at Columbia University. Zim wrote or edited more than one hundred books on science, and in a thirty-year career teaching in the public schools introduced laboratory instruction into elementary school science. He is best known as the founder in 1945 (and, for twenty-five years, editor in chief) of the Golden Guides, pocket-size introductions for children to such subjects as fossils, zoology, microscopy, rocks and minerals, trees, wildflowers, dinosaurs, navigation and more. ZIM (file Format)
The ZIM file format is an open file format that stores wiki content for offline usage. Its primary focus is the contents of Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. The format allows for the compression of articles. ZIM file can also contain full-text search indices and other auxiliary files. In addition to the open file format, the openZIM project provides support for an open-source ZIM reader called Kiwix. ZIM stands for "Zeno IMproved", as it replaces the earlier Zeno file format. Its file compression uses LZMA2, as implemented by the xz-utils library, and, more recently, Zstandard. Zim is a graphical text editor designed to maintain a collection of locally stored wiki-pages, a personal wiki. Each wiki-page can contain things like text with Lightweight markup language, simple formatting, links to other pages, attachments, and images. Zim Zim Falls
Zim Zim Falls is a 100+ ft tall waterfall in northern Napa County, California in the Knoxville Wildlife Area. This area is also a part of the much larger Berryessa-Snow Mountain National Monument. The waterfall became accessible to the public in 2005 after the wildlife area was expanded by 12,000 acres. The falls are located along Zim Zim Creek which is a tributary of Eticuera Creek. Zim Smith Trail
The Zim Smith Trail is the main multi-use trail of a network of trails in Saratoga County, New York. Extending twelve miles, it connects the cities and towns of Mechanicville, Halfmoon, Clifton Park, Round Lake Village, Malta and Ballston Spa. The trail is the route of the former Delaware & Hudson Railroad, originally the Rensselaer & Saratoga Railroad which was completed in 1836. It is the only trail in New York state to be designated a national recreation trail by the U.S. Department of Interior and National Park Service. The trail starts at Oak Street in Ballston Spa and runs through Malta's Shenantaha Creek Park. From there the trail passes under Interstate 87, the Adirondack Northway, and brings you through the village of Round Lake. Zim is an unincorporated place in McDavitt Township, St. Louis County, Minnesota, United States. Geography The community is located 14 miles southwest of the city of Eveleth at the junction of Saint Louis County Highway 7 and County Road 27. The Saint Louis River is nearby. History A post office called Zim was established in 1899, and remained in operation until 1990. The community derives its name from a logging camp run by a lumberman named Zimmerman who worked in the area.
