Edward Zigler
Edward Frank Zigler (March 1, 1930 – February 7, 2019) was an American developmental psychologist and Sterling Professor Emeritus of Psychology at Yale University. In addition to his academic research on child development, he was best known as one of the architects of the federal Head Start program. Early life and education Zigler was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Frank Zigler and Gertrude Gleitman Zigler. He attended the University of Missouri, Kansas City, where he received a B.S. in 1954. The next year, Zigler matriculated at the University of Texas, where he received a PhD in developmental psychology in 1958. Career Much of Zigler's applied research aimed to develop and improve services for disadvantaged children, such as those with intellectual disabilities, or children of poverty. Jack Zigler
Jack Elliot Zigler (born May 27, 1952 in Brooklyn, New York) is a Board Certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery at the Texas Back Institute in Plano, Texas. He is best known for being the first surgeon to perform a ProDisc artificial disc replacement surgery in the United States, on October 3, 2001. Organizations Since joining the Texas Back Institute in 1996, Zigler has been an international guest lecturer on topics in spinal reconstruction, as well as a Principal Investigator for the ProDisc artificial disc replacement system's U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clinical studies. Vivi Zigler is an American television executive, and a President of Shine America. Education and early career Zigler attended California Polytechnic State University (San Luis Obispo, California) where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in journalism. From there, Zigler began working at the local NBC affiliate television station, KSBY-TV. Zigler began in the newsroom at the station before being promoted to management. NBC career In the early 1990s, Zigler relocated to Seattle, WA where she worked at another NBC affiliate television station, KING-TV.
