Benny Ziffer
Benny Ziffer ( he, בני ציפר; born 21 January 1953) is an Israeli author and journalist. Biography Benjamin (Benny) Ziffer was born in Tel Aviv. His parents, Heinz and Nira (née Farhi), immigrated to Israel from Turkey in 1949. In 1895, his grandfather, Albert (Avraham) Ziffer, founded the world's first Jewish sports team in Istanbul. Ziffer studied French literature and political science. He is married to the curator Irit Ziffer, and they have three children. Ziffer holds two nationalities: Israeli and Turkish. Journalism career In 1988, Ziffer was appointed literary editor of ''Haaretz'' daily newspaper. Ziffer is the author of three novels. He has also translated French novels and poetry into Hebrew. Ziffer writes a political-cultural column in ''Haaretz'' that combines television reviews with reflections on contemporary Israeli life. Frances Ziffer
Frances Ziffer (June 5, 1917 – November 7, 1996) was an American composer, conductor, and pianist. She attended the Peabody Institute and studied with Carl Friedberg and David Saperton. She was a music director for theater groups and wrote lyrics or composed music for at least six musicals, as well as for numerous songs. Ziffer married Joseph Burgio but published her works under the name "Ziffer," sometimes collaborating with Hortense Belson. Irit Ziffer ( he, עירית ציפר; born 1954) is an Israeli archaeologist and art historian. Irit Margit Ziffer was born in Tel Aviv. She is the curator of the Ceramics and Copper (Hebrew: Nehushtán) pavilions of the Eretz Israel Museum in Tel Aviv. Moshe Ziffer
Moshe Ziffer ( he, משה ציפר; 24 April 1902 – 9 April 1989) was an Israeli artist and sculptor. Biography Moshe Ziffer was born in 1902 in Przemyśl, Austria-Hungary. He immigrated to Mandate Palestine in 1919. In 1924–33, he studied sculpture in Vienna, Berlin and Paris. Stone sculptures by Ziffer are on display at the campuses of Tel Aviv University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Ziffer bequeathed his sculpture garden in Safed to the Safed Municipality. He left his home in Tel Aviv and many of his sculptures to Tel Aviv University. Ziffer died in 1989 in Tel Aviv.
