Zhyngyldy (lake)
Zhyngyldy or Zhyngyldysor ( kk, Жыңғылдысор) is a salt lake in the Ekibastuz City Administration, Pavlodar Region, Kazakhstan. Zhyngyldy is one of the main lakes in the area surrounding Ekibastuz and is part of the Irtysh Water Management Basin. It is located to the north of the city. The Ekibastuz GRES-1 Power Station rises by its northern shore. The reservoir was formed by filling an endorheic intermittent lake ( sor) with water from the Irtysh–Karaganda Canal in order to cool the adjacent thermal power station. Sentinel-2 is an Earth observation mission from the Copernicus Programme that systematically acquires optical imagery at high spatial resolution (10 m to 60 m) over land and coastal waters. The mission is currently a constellation with two satellites, Sentinel-2A and Sentinel-2B; a third satellite, Sentinel-2C, is currently undergoing testing in preparation for launch in 2024. An endorheic basin (; also spelled endoreic basin or endorreic basin) is a drainage basin that normally retains water and allows no outflow to other external bodies of water, such as rivers or oceans, but drainage converges instead into lakes or swamps, permanent or seasonal, that equilibrate through evaporation. They are also called closed or terminal basins, internal drainage systems, or simply basins. Endorheic regions contrast with exorheic regions. Ekibastuz GRES-2 Power Station
Ekibastuz ( kk, Екібастұз, translit=Ekıbastūz, , ەكئباستۇز; russian: Экибастуз) is a city in Pavlodar Region, northeastern Kazakhstan. The population was Ekibastuz is served by Ekibastuz Airport. History The history of Ekibastuz begins in the 19th century, when Kosym Pshembayev, a native Kazakh who was commissioned by Russian merchants to look for mineral resources in that region, alighted on a coal field southeast of Pavlodar. The commercial exploitation of the field started soon after. The field afterwards was sold to a British businessman, Leslie Urquhart. The village of Ekibastuz was established in 1899, named after the nearby lake of the same name, which means 2 heads of salt in Kazakh (''eki'' 'two' + ''bas'' 'head' + ''tuz'' 'salt').
