Zhu Lin (novelist)
Zhu Lin (; born 1949), born as Wang Zuling (), is a Chinese novelist. Life Zhu Lin was the only child of parents who divorced when she was a baby. She did not have an easy childhood: she was brought up by her father, an academic, and a grandmother. Graduating from high school in 1968, she was rusticated to Fenyang County in Anhui Province, where she lived in primitive rural conditions. Blocked by her class background from attending university, she managed to return to Shanghai in 1975, working in a street factory before getting a job as an editor. She was editor at Shanghai Literature, until granted the status of professional writer in 1990. In 1980 she moved from Shanghai to Jiading in the suburbs, where she has continued to live. Down To The Countryside Movement
The Up to the Mountains and Down to the Countryside Movement, often known simply as the Down to the Countryside Movement, was a policy instituted in the People's Republic of China between mid 1950s and 1978. As a result of what he perceived to be pro-bourgeois thinking prevalent during the Cultural Revolution, Chairman Mao Zedong declared certain privileged urban youth would be sent to mountainous areas or farming villages to learn from the workers and farmers there. In total, approximately 17 million youth were sent to rural areas as a result of the movement. Usually only the oldest child had to go, but younger siblings could volunteer to go instead. Chairman Mao's policy differed from Chinese President Liu Shaoqi's early 1960s sending-down policy in its political context. Fenyang County
Fenyang (), formerly as Fenyang County () before 1996, is a county-level city under the administration of Lüliang prefecture-level city, in Shanxi Province, China. Fenyang is located in the wide valley of the Fen River, some 20-plus kilometers west of the actual river. Fenyang was the birthplace of Jia Zhangke, who filmed 1997 ''Xiao Wu'' there. Anhui Province
Anhui , (; formerly romanized as Anhwei) is a landlocked province of the People's Republic of China, part of the East China region. Its provincial capital and largest city is Hefei. Jiading District
Jiading is a suburban district of Shanghai. It had a population of 1,471,100 in 2010. History Historically, Jiading was a separate municipality/town, until, in 1958, becoming under the administration of Shanghai. In 1993, Jiading's designated was changed from a county to a district of Shanghai.
