Zhongshanmen Subdistrict, Tianjin
Zhongshanmen Subdistrict () is a subdistrict located in the southern side of Hedong District, Tianjin. it shares border Shanghang Road and Wanxing Subdistricts to the northeast, Erhaoqiao Subdistrict to the southeast, Fumin Road Subdistrict to the southwest, and Dazhigu Subdistrict to the northwest. It had a total population of 94,762 as of 2010. Its name Zhongshanmen () originated in 1947, when the Nationalist government constructed a series of fortification in Tianjin during the Chinese Civil War. A huge metal gate was installed within this region, along with a inscription reading: "Zhongshanmen". Later people started to refer to the area by this name. Chinese Civil War
The Chinese Civil War was fought between the Kuomintang-led government of the Republic of China and forces of the Chinese Communist Party, continuing intermittently since 1 August 1927 until 7 December 1949 with a Communist victory on mainland China. Hedong District, Tianjin
Hedong District () is located at the heart of the municipality of Tianjin, People's Republic of China. Its name literally means "east of the river", referring to its location east of the Hai River. Parts of the district were once part of the Russian Concession during the colonial period in the early 20th century. As of 2020, Hedong District has a population of 858,787.
