Zeytinburnu (literally, ''Olive Cape'') is a working-class neighbourhood, municipality (belediye) and district on the European side of Istanbul, Turkey, on the shore of the Marmara Sea just outside the walls of the ancient city, beyond the fortress of Yedikule. The mayor is Ömer Arısoy ( AKP). History Zeytinburnu was a fortress and settlement known as Kyklobion ( el, Κυκλόβιον) or Strongylon () during the Byzantine period, its name referring to the circular shape of the fortress. The fortress was built in Late Antiquity as part of a series of strongholds that guarded the coastal road leading to Constantinople. It is first attested during the reign of Justinian I (527–565). Kyklobion was used as the landing-site of the Arab armies on both of their assaults on Constantinople, in 674 and in 717. İstanbulspor is a Turkish football and sports club founded by Istanbul High School students in 1926. In 2004–05 they were relegated from the Turkish Süper Lig (Super League) to TFF 1. Lig. For many decades it was the fourth most famous and well-developed professional football club from Istanbul, coming after Beşiktaş, Galatasaray, and Fenerbahçe. After being bought by the Uzan Family in 1990, it has been repossessed by the government and resold to third companies. Their greatest success is the Turkish championship title won in 1932. Kazlıçeşme Railway Station
Kazlıçeşme railway station ( tr, Kazlıçeşme istasyonu) is a railway station in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul and the current terminus of the trans-Bosporus Marmaray commuter rail line. Located just outside of the city's historic walled center, Kazlıçeşme station sits between 10. Yıl Avenue and Zakirbaşı Street. The station is west of Sirkeci station. History Kazlıçeşme station was opened on 4 December 1955 by the Turkish State Railways as a stop on the Istanbul suburban line. The original station consisted of an island platform with two tracks, located above Zakirbaşı Street about west of the contemporary station. Kazlıçeşme was chosen as the western portal of the Marmaray tunnel and the construction of a new station started in 2011. Turkish Regional Amateur League
The Turkish Regional Amateur League ( tr, Bölgesel Amatör Ligi) is the fifth tier of the Turkish football league system. The tier comprises a number (usually 11-13, varies by season) of groups across Turkey, each consisting of teams grouped according to the regions in which they are based. Every season, 9 teams are promoted to the TFF Third League while the bottom two teams of each group are relegated to the Super Amateur Leagues of their respective provinces.
