The Zetas Vieja Escuela ( en, Old School Zetas) is a Mexican criminal organization that splintered from Los Zetas. It was founded by José Guizar Valencia, alias "Z-43", along with other dissidents of the original organization. The group took the name Vieja Escuela, arguing that they would continue the "original business" of drug trafficking, including the same brutality. Their main criminal activities are kidnapping, extortion, vehicle theft, human trafficking, drug trafficking, terrorism, money laundering, as well as the control of local activities such as prostitution, and illegal human trafficking, among others. Topo Chico was a prison located in Monterrey, northern Mexico, close to Penitenciaría metro station (). The prison is an establishment of the Federal Government of Mexico and is administered by the Secretariat of Public Security ( es, Secretaría de Seguridad Pública, ''SSP''). The director of the prison is Gregoria Salazar Robles, appointed 12 March 2012. As of September 2015 the prison was overcrowded with a capacity for 3,685 inmates but a population of 4,091. 2010 San Fernando Massacre
The 2010 San Fernando massacre, also known as the first massacre of San Fernando, was the mass murder of 72 undocumented immigrants by Los Zetas drug cartel in the village of El Huizachal in the municipality of San Fernando, Tamaulipas, Mexico. The 72 killed—58 men and 14 women—were mainly from Central and South America, and they were shot in the back of the head and then piled up together. The bodies were found inside a ranch on 24 August 2010 by the Mexican military after they engaged in an armed confrontation with members of a drug cartel.
