Alsenz Valley Railway
The Alsenz Valley Railway (german: Alsenztalbahn) is a line that runs from Hochspeyer via Winnweiler and Alsenz to Bad Munster am Stein in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The line closely follows the Alsenz river from the Enkenbach district and crosses it several times. It was originally built primarily as a long-distance route, but it has lost this function since 1990 and is now exclusively used for local transport. Route Between Enkenbach and Bad Münster the line has continuous double track; only the Enkenbach–Hochspeyer section is single track. From Enkenbach the line follows the Alsenz river to Alsenz. Due to the difficult topographical conditions, the line has to cross the Alsenz river several times and has three tunnels. It runs along the edge of the Palatinate Forest to about Langmeil, where it enters the North Palatine Uplands. Mölsheim is an ''Ortsgemeinde'' – a municipality belonging to a ''Verbandsgemeinde'', a kind of collective municipality – in the Alzey-Worms district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Monsheim is an ''Ortsgemeinde'' – a municipality belonging to a ''Verbandsgemeinde'', a kind of collective municipality – in the Alzey-Worms district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Palatine Northern Railway
The Palatine Northern Railway (german: Pfälzische Nordbahn) is a non-electrified single-track main line that connects Neustadt (Weinstr) Hbf with Monsheim in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It was opened between 1865 and 1873 in three stages. With the replacement of the old Ludwigshafen terminus with the modern Ludwigshafen Hauptbahnhof through station in 1969, Bad Dürkheim station became the only station in the form of a terminus in the Palatinate region. Passenger services over the Grünstadt–Monsheim section were discontinued in 1984, but re-established in 1995. The name of the line comes from the Palatine Northern Railway Company (''Gesellschaft der Pfälzischen Nordbahnen''), which acquired the line as its main line in 1870. Monsheim Station
Monsheim station is in the municipality of Monsheim in the Alzey-Worms district of the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is at the junction of the Rheinhessen Railway, the Palatine Northern Railway and the Zeller Valley Railway. The station’s entrance building is protected as a monument. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station. History The first Monsheim station was opened in 1864 simultaneously with the section of the Rheinhessen Railway from Worms. The importance of the station rose sharply as a result of the continuation of the construction of the Rheinhessen line via Alzey to Bingen and the connection of the Palatine Northern Railway and the Zeller Valley Railway. As a result, a new station building was built in 1885.
