''Clothes'' is a 1920 American silent drama film produced and distributed by the Metro Pictures company. It is based on a 1906 Broadway play, ''Clothes'', by Channing Pollock and Avery Hopwood. The play starred Grace George with a young supporting player named Douglas Fairbanks. A 1914 silent film was produced and is now lost. This 1920 version from Metro starred Olive Tell. By all accounts this version is lost as well. Laurel and Hardy were a British-American Double act, comedy duo act during the early Classical Hollywood cinema, Classical Hollywood era of American cinema, consisting of Englishman Stan Laurel (1890–1965) and American Oliver Hardy (1892–1957). Starting their career as a duo in the silent film era, they later successfully transitioned to "sound film, talkies".
