Zeeheldenkwartier
The Zeeheldenkwartier (, literally ''Sea Heroes Quarter'') is a neighbourhood in the Centrum district of The Hague, Netherlands. It has 11,205 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) and covers an area of . It is bordered by the Carnegielaan, the Zeestraat, the Hoge Wal and the Prinsessewal to the north-east, the Veenkade to the south, the Waldeck Pyrmontkade to the south-west and the Laan van Meerdervoort to the Carnegielaan to the north. Built between 1870 and 1890, the style of the buildings differs between larger houses for important officials near the Willemspark and the Laan van Meerdervoort, and predominantly smaller houses nearer to the city centre. The Hague Center
The City Center of The Hague ( nl, Centrum) is the oldest and, with a population of 104,658 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2018), the second largest of The Hague, The Hague's eight districts, consisting of nine neighbourhoods. Two railways stations can be found in the city center: Den Haag Centraal railway station, Den Haag Centraal and Den Haag Hollands Spoor railway station, Den Haag Hollands Spoor. Archipelbuurt The neighbourhood Archipelbuurt / Willemspark was largely built at the end of the 19th century. On the south-west border is a Jewish cemetery that dates back to 1694. Later on both the non-denominational and Roman Catholic cemeteries were also situated in this location. The neighbourhood has many wide avenues and streets with large houses, although housing in the smaller streets is more modest. Willemspark
The Willemspark (, literally ''William's Park'') is a neighbourhood in the Centrum district of The Hague, Netherlands. It has 1,393 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) and covers an area of . It is bordered by the Zeestraat to the south-east, the Scheveningseveer, the Mauritskade and the Dr. Kuyperstraat to the south-east, the Prinsessegracht to the north-east and the Javastraat to the north-west. The park was originally property of king William II, but he sold the area to the municipality of The Hague in 1855, after which it became a villa park. Iconic to the neighbourhood are the Alexanderstraat and the Sophialaan that intersect on Plein 1813. Coffeeshop (Netherlands)
In the Netherlands, ''coffeeshops'' are establishments where the sale of cannabis for personal consumption by the public is tolerated by the local authorities. Under the drug policy of the Netherlands, the sale of cannabis products in small quantities is allowed by licensed ''coffeeshops''. The majority of these also serve drinks and food. ''Coffeeshops'' are not allowed to serve alcohol or other drugs, and risk closure if they are found to be selling soft drugs to minors, hard drugs or selling alcohol. The idea of licensing the sale of cannabis was introduced in the 1970s for the explicit purpose of keeping hard and soft drugs separated. A Dutch judge has ruled that tourists can legally be banned from entering cannabis cafes, as part of restrictions that were implemented in 2012. Albert Heijn
Albert Heijn is the largest supermarket chain in the Netherlands with a market share of 34.8% in 2020. It was founded in 1887, and has been part of Ahold Delhaize since 2016. History The chain was founded on 27 May 1887, when Albert Heijn bought a grocery store from his father Jan Heijn in Oostzaan. In the following years, Heijn opened other locations in several cities and in 1899, he opened a central warehouse in Zaandam. From 1895, Heijn started roasting his own brand of coffee in a laundry room in his Oostzaan location and in 1910, several other self-produced items were added, including confectionery, cakes and pastry. Until 1913, these products were produced in an old town house in Zaandam, but the company built a professional factory on this spot in 1913.
