The Zec de la Rivière-Laval is a " zone d'exploitation contrôlée" (controlled harvesting zone) (zec) in the unorganized territory of the Lac-au-Brochet, in the municipalities of Colombier and Forestville, in La Haute-Côte-Nord Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Côte-Nord (North Shore), in Quebec, in Canada. A ''zone d'exploitation contrôlée'' (in French; acronym ZEC) is a "Controlled harvesting zone" located in public lands areas of Quebec, in Canada. The Laval River (french: Rivière Laval) is a salmon river in the Côte-Nord region of Quebec, Canada. Location The mouth of the Laval River is in Forestville, La Haute-Côte-Nord. Route 385 roughly follows the course of the river. The Commission de toponymie du Québec does not have information about the name, which was made official on 5 December 1968. Colombier is a municipality in the Canadian province of Quebec, located in the Côte-Nord region and the regional county municipality of La Haute-Côte-Nord. It is located along Route 138, about south-west of Baie-Comeau. It includes the population centres of (Sainte-Thérèse-de-) Colombier, Les Îlets-Jérémie, and Saint-Marc-de-Latour. History While some logging took place in the middle of the 19th century, real impetus to its development was due to the economic crisis of the 1930s, when government authorities encouraged resettlement of the unemployed by opening the area for agriculture.
