Zahra Amir Ebrahimi ( fa, زهرا اميرابراهيمی; born July 9, 1981) known professionally as Zar Amir Ebrahimi (), is an Iranian-French actress, producer and director. She is best known for her performance as journalist Arezoo Rahimi in the crime thriller ''Holy Spider'' (2022), for which she won the Best Actress award at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. She is also a producer and host for the BBC and oversees a cultural program for the Persian branch of BBC World. In 2022, Amir Ebrahimi appeared on BBC's '' 100 Women'' list as one of the world's inspiring and influential women of the year. Shoja Azari ( fa, شجاع آذری) is an Iranian-born visual artist and filmmaker based in New York City. He is known for his films and multimedia installations. Early life and education Azari was born in Shiraz, Iran. Azari trained as a filmmaker in New York in the 1970s before returning to Iran during the Iranian Revolution in 1979. Shirin Neshat ( fa, شیرین نشاط; born March 26, 1957 in Qazvin) is an Iranian visual artist who lives in New York City, known primarily for her work in film, video and photography. Her artwork centers on the contrasts between Islam and the West, femininity and masculinity, public life and private life, antiquity and modernity, and bridging the spaces between these subjects. ''Women Without Men'' is a 2009 film adaptation of the 1990 Shahrnush Parsipur novel, directed by Shirin Neshat. Neshat's work explores gender issues in the Islamic world. ''Women without Men'' is her first dramatic feature. The film profiles the lives of four women living in Tehran in 1953, during the American-backed coup that returned the Shah of Iran to power. ''Shirin'' () is a 2008 film directed by Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami. The film is considered by some critics as a notable twist in the artistic career of Kiarostami. The film features close-ups of many notable Iranian actresses and French actress Juliette Binoche as they watch a film based on a part mythological Persian romance tale of Khosrow and Shirin, with themes of female self-sacrifice. The film has been described as "a compelling exploration of the relationship between image, sound and female spectatorship." The film depicts the audience's emotional involvement with the story.
