Yukari Ichijo
is a Japanese '' shōjo'' and ''josei'' manga artist. She made her debut as a professional manga artist in 1968 with ''Yuki no Serenade''. In 1986 she received the Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo for '' Yūkan Club'', and in 2007, she received an Excellence Prize in manga at the Japan Media Arts Festival for ''Pride''. Several of her series have been dramatized, including ''Yūkan Club'' as an anime OVA and ''Designer'' and ''Tadashii Ren'ai no Susume'' as high-rated live-action television dramas. Tamano
is a city located in southern Okayama Prefecture, Japan. The city was officially founded on August 3, 1940. As of October 1, 2016, the city has an estimated population of 60,101 and a population density of 580 persons per km². The total area is 103.61 km². The JR Uno Line connects it to Okayama. Before the Great Seto Bridge was opened, there was a train ferry between Uno Port in Tamano and Takamatsu on Shikoku. Then, Tamano was the major entrance to Shikoku. Today there still exist many ferry lines between Uno port and Takamatsu, and also the islands of Shōdoshima and Naoshima. Japan Media Arts Festival
The Japan Media Arts Festival is an annual festival held since 1997 by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs. The festival begins with an open competition and culminates with the awarding of several prizes and an exhibition. Based on judging by a jury of artistic peers, awards are given in four categories: Art (formerly called Non-Interactive Digital Art), Entertainment (formerly called Interactive Art; including video games and websites), animation, and manga. Within each category, one Grand Prize, four Excellence Prizes, and (since 2002) one Encouragement Prize are awarded. Other outstanding works, are selected by the Jury as Jury Selections. Yoshimi Uchida
is a Japanese manga artist. Career She was born in Yamanashi Prefecture. The first manga she read was ''8 Man'' by Jiro Kuwata. In middle school, she started drawing manga herself. Uchida started her professional career in 1974, when she won a newcomers award of the manga magazine ''Ribon'' and published her first short story ''Nami no Shougaibutsu Lace'' (なみの障害物レース). Until graduating university, Uchida worked as an assistant for Yukari Ichijo. Until 1977, she published exclusively in ''Ribon'' magazine and its sister magazines. In 1977, she quit her contract with ''Ribon'' and became a freelancer. She published illustrations in magazines such as ''Lyrica'' and worked also as a book designer for a publisher. is an annual award for serialized manga published in the previous year, the event is sponsored by the publisher Kodansha. It is currently awarded in three categories: '' shōnen'', '' shōjo'', and general. The awards began in 1977, initially with categories for ''shōnen'' and ''shōjo''. The first award for the general category was in 1982, and the first children's category's award was in 2003. The children's category was merged into the ''shōnen'' and ''shōjo'' categories starting in 2015.
