Young Voices Brandenburg
The Young Voices Brandenburg are a popular music choir of over 20 individually microphoned voices, composed of 14 to 18-year-old male and female singers. The musical ensemble is specifically auditioned from the State of Brandenburg, Germany on a two-year rotation. They have toured the United States, China, and South Africa as well as having recorded numerous CDs. The ensemble has been conducted by jazz and pop singer/educator Marc Secara since its beginnings in 2000 until the year 2019; he was replaced in 2020 by Daniel Barke. ''Sound of Home'' is the sixth studio album from the Young Voices Brandenburg on the Junge Töne label. The concept for the CD focuses on popular repertoire relating the questions "Where I come from, where I belong and where I feel at home". Background The concept of the ''Sound of Home'' CD came from director :de:Marc Secara, Marc Secara in asking the questions "Where I come from, where I belong and where I feel at home". The repertoire chosen for the album was closely coordinated with 7 arrangers Secara trusted to write cover versions of hit tunes dating back to Antônio Carlos Jobims 1959 composition ''Chega de Saudade'' and the tradition Germany folksong ''Schlaflied.'' The human voice consists of sound made by a human being using the vocal tract, including talking, singing, laughing, crying, screaming, shouting, humming or yelling. The human voice frequency is specifically a part of human sound production in which the vocal folds (vocal cords) are the primary sound source. Jiggs Whigham
Jiggs Whigham (born Oliver Haydn Whigham III; August 20, 1943) is an American jazz trombonist. Biography Born in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, he began his professional career at the age of 17, joining the Glenn Miller/Ray McKinley orchestra in 1961. He left that band for Stan Kenton, where he played in the touring "mellophonium" band in 1963, then settled in New York City to play commercially. Frustrated with commercial playing, Whigham migrated to Germany, where he still lives. He taught at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin. He played for many years in the big band of Kurt Edelhagen, was a featured soloist in the Bert Kaempfert orchestra, and was also a member of the Peter Herbolzheimer band. He is widely admired by trombonists and other musicians for his fluent and expressive playing, and has produced an extensive discography as a leader, including work with Bill Holman, Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, Carl Fontana, and many others.
