Young's Point, Ontario
Young's Point is a small village in Ontario, Canada, established in 1825. It is about north of Peterborough. Young's Point gets its name from the founders of the village. The Young family, nine children plus widower Francis Young (1781-1859) of Newport, Tipperary, Ireland, whose wife Elizabeth Blackall had predeceased him in Ireland, settled the area in 1825. Young was a civil engineer and built a dam and grist mill here. References are recorded in Susanna Moodie's Book "Roughing it in the Bush." Later generations ran a store and built and operated the steamboat service for both cargo and passenger service to nearby Stony (or Stoney) Lake. The Stoney Lake Navigation Company office was near the original Young family homestead where a cairn now stands at Lock 27. The Lockside Trading Company is home to one of the later generation buildings. Young's Point is the home of Lock 27 of the Trent-Severn Waterway network. Peterborough ( ) is a city on the Otonabee River in Ontario, Canada, about 125 kilometres (78 miles) northeast of Toronto. According to the 2021 Census, the population of the City of Peterborough was 83,651. The population of the Peterborough Census Metropolitan Area (CMA), which includes the surrounding Townships of Selwyn, Cavan Monaghan, Otonabee-South Monaghan, and Douro-Dummer, was 128,624 in 2021. County Tipperary ( ga, Contae Thiobraid Árann) is a county in Ireland. It is in the province of Munster and the Southern Region. The county is named after the town of Tipperary, and was established in the early 13th century, shortly after the Norman invasion of Ireland. Katchewanooka Lake
Katchewanooka Lake is one of the Kawartha lakes in south-central Ontario, Canada. It is about long and wide. The Trent Severn Waterway flows through Lake Katchewanooka into the Otonabee River at its outlet just north of Lakefield, continuing southwest through Little Lake in Peterborough and on into Rice Lake. Lakefield College School lies on the east side of the lake. Susanna Moodie, author of ''Roughing it in the Bush'' (1852), lived on a farm on the lake in the 1830s. Although water levels in this lake and others in the Kawartha Lakes system are controlled to some extent by locks and dams, the lakeshore is vulnerable to flooding during the spring run-off period. Bracebridge, Ontario
Bracebridge is a town and the seat of the Muskoka District Municipality in Ontario, Canada. The town was built around a waterfall on the Muskoka River in the centre of town, and is known for its other nearby waterfalls (Wilson's Falls, High Falls, etc.). It was first incorporated in 1875. The town is the seat of the district government, a centre of tourism for the Muskoka area, and home to several historical sites, such as the Clock Tower, Woodchester Villa, and the Silver Bridge, which joins Manitoba Street with Ecclestone Drive. Warren Errol Truss, (born 8 October 1948) is a former Australian politician who served as the 16th Deputy Prime Minister of Australia and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development in the Abbott Government and the Turnbull Government.
