Yao Hung
Eric Hung (; born 1 November 1967) is a Taiwanese music producer. Hung was named the best album producer alongside his brother Chris at the 7th Golden Melody Awards in 1996. He produced ''Flower of Love'' in 2010, a tribute album to his father Ang It-hong, and won the same prize at the 22nd Golden Melody Awards in 2011. In 2013, Hung served as music director for Jerry Fan's musical ''Dancing Diva''. Later that year, Hung led several thousand people in singing ''Children’s Sky'', a song by Ian Chen of the band F.I.R. F.I.R. () is a Taiwanese pop rock band formed in 2004. The band consists of Lydia (lead vocals), Ian Chen (keyboards), and Real Huang (guitar, vocals). Yanshuei District
Yanshuei District, United States National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (), alternatively spelled Yanshui, is a district in Tainan, Taiwan, which is famous for its notoriously dangerous fireworks festival. The annual event commemorates a cholera epidemic more than a century ago, the fireworks symbolizing the exorcism of demons associated with the plague. Ang It-hong
Ang It-hong (; 30 October 1927 – 24 February 2010) was a Taiwanese popular singer, songwriter, composer, and actor. Ang was born Hong Wen-lu () and educated in Taipei. At a young age, Hong learned to sing and play violin. He first performed at Taihoku City Public Auditorium as part of a children's group, and later as a singer of Japanese patriotic songs. Inspired by Haruo Oka, Hong quit his job at a lumber mill to become a singer, writing his first song, ''Butterfly in Love with a Flower'' (), aged 19 in 1946 under the stage name Hong Wen-chang (). He led a group of singers that performed frequently near the Danshui River until the February 28 Incident forced Hong to move to Tainan. Hong began singing on the radio in 1948, alongside and others. Chris Hung
Chris Hung (; born 19 March 1963) is a Taiwanese enka and Hokkien pop singer and television host. Widely known as the "king of Taiwanese pop," he has won five Golden Melody Awards and one Golden Bell Award. The eldest of three sons born to singer Ang It-hong, Hung's relationship with his father deteriorated to estrangement due to the strict musical training Hung received from Ang, as well as Ang's multiple marriages. At the age of ten, Hung was sent to Japan for further education in music. After Hung's conversion to Christianity, he stopped drinking and reconciled with his father. Golden Melody Awards
The Golden Melody Awards (), commonly abbreviated as GMA, is an honor awarded by Taiwan's Ministry of Culture to recognize outstanding achievement in the Mandarin, Taiwanese Hokkien, Hakka, and Formosan-languages popular and traditional music industry. The GMAs are awarded on the basis of votes by members of jury, and it has constantly been recognized as the equivalent to the Grammy Awards in Chinese-speaking world. It shares recognition of the music industry as that of the other performance awards such as the Golden Bell Awards (television) and the Golden Horse Awards (motion pictures). The 1st Golden Melody Awards was held on January 6, 1990, to honor the popular music production by performers. Hokkien pop, also known as Taiwanese Hokkien popular music, T-pop (), Tai-pop, Minnan Pop and Taiwanese song (), is a popular music genre sung in Taiwanese Hokkien and produced mainly in Taiwan. Enka
is a Japanese music genre considered to resemble traditional Japanese music stylistically. Modern ''enka'', however, is a relatively recent musical form, which adopts a more traditional musical style in its vocalism than ''ryūkōka'' music, popular during the prewar years. Modern ''enka'', as developed in the postwar era, is a form of sentimental ballad music. Some of the first modern ''enka'' singers were Hachiro Kasuga, Michiya Mihashi, and Hideo Murata.
