Yūichirō Itō
is a Japanese politician and former governor of Kagoshima Prefecture in Japan. A native of Izumi, Kagoshima and graduate of the University of Tokyo with the Bachelor of Laws in June 1971, he had worked at the Ministry of Home Affairs since 1972 before elected governor. He served three terms as governor from 2004 until 2016. Satoshi Mitazono
is a Japanese politician and journalist who is the former governor of Kagoshima Prefecture. He defeated the incumbent Yūichirō Itō at an election held on 10 July 2016. Early life and education Mitazono was born in Ibusuki, Kagoshima in 1958. In 1980 he graduated from Waseda University with a bachelor's degree in education and was employed by TV Asahi as a political journalist. Pre-politics career During his career with TV Asahi, Mitazono was responsible for reporting on national politics. From 1990 he was the political reporter for ''News Station'', Asahi's daily night-time news program. Izumi, Kagoshima
is a city located in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. The city was founded on April 1, 1954. As of 2017, the city has an estimated population of 52,978. In 2008, the city had a population density of 170 persons per km². The total area is 329.98 km². On March 13, 2006, the towns of Noda and Takaono (both from Izumi District) were merged into Izumi. ''JANJAN'' (), short for ''Japan Alternative News for Justices and New Cultures'' (), was a Japanese online newspaper started by Ken Takeuchi, journalist and former mayor of Kamakura, Kanagawa. Launched in February 2003, the newspaper is credited for pioneering citizen journalism in Japan. After registration, anyone was free to post comments on the JANJAN website. However, there were different windows for registering depending on the nationality or ethnicity of the potential poster (i.e. a different one for "Foreigners" (外国の方) and Japanese). The bulk of the newspaper's revenue came from advertisements by its corporate sponsor. Due a lack of revenue, the newspaper ceased publication at the end of March 2010.
