Yıldırım Railway Station
Yıldırım railway station ( tr, Yıldırım istasyonu) is a railway station in Ankara, Turkey, currently being rebuilt. The station was a stop on the Ankara suburban from 1972 to 2016 when it was closed and demolished shortly after, in order to rebuild and expand the railway. Construction of the new station began in 2017 and is expected to open on 12 April 2018. Yıldırım station was originally built in 1970 by the Turkish State Railways, when the railway from Ankara to Sincan was double-tracked. It entered service in 1972, when electric commuter service began on the line. Etimesgut
Etimesgut or Etimesut, formerly Ahimesut, is a metropolitan district of Ankara Province in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey, mainly consisting of large public housing projects, from Ankara city centre. According to 2010 census, the population of Etimesgut is 386,879. The district covers an area of , and the average elevation is . The State Railways of the Republic of Turkey ( tr, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devlet Demiryolları), abbreviated as TCDD, is a government-owned national railway company responsible with the ownership and maintenance of railway infrastructure in Turkey, as well as the planning and construction of new lines. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. Kayaş Railway Station
Kayaş railway station is a railway station on the Başkentray commuter rail line in Ankara, Turkey. Located in the Kayaş neighborhood of the Mamak district, it is the eastern terminus of the line. The station closed down in July 2016 and the platforms were demolished, expanded and rebuilt; Kayaş station is expected to reopen on 12 April 2018 and will serve commuter, regional and intercity trains and by the end of 2018, high-speed YHT trains to Sivas. A double-track railway usually involves running one track in each direction, compared to a single-track railway where trains in both directions share the same track.
