2020 FC Astana Season
The 2020 FC Astana season is the twelfth successive season that Astana will play in the Kazakhstan Premier League, the highest tier of association football in Kazakhstan. Astana are defending Kazakhstan Premier League holders, having won their sixth title the previous season. UEFA Euro 2020 Qualifying Group I
Group I of UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying was one of the ten groups to decide which teams would qualify for the UEFA Euro 2020 finals tournament. Group I consisted of six teams: Belgium, Cyprus, Kazakhstan, Russia, San Marino and Scotland, where they played against each other home-and-away in a round-robin format. The top two teams, Belgium and Russia, qualified directly for the finals. Astana, previously known as Akmolinsk, Tselinograd, Akmola, and most recently Nur-Sultan, is the capital city of Kazakhstan. The Astana Arena ( kk, Астана Арена) is a football stadium in Astana, Kazakhstan. The stadium holds 30,000 and has a retractable roof. It serves as the national stadium for the Kazakhstan national football team. FC Tobol are the defending champions after winning their second title the previous season.
