Yuri Ilyin
Yuriy Viktorovich Ilyin (, ; born 9 April 1968) is a Kazakhstani politician and Lieutenant General who has served as Minister of Emergency Situations since 11 September 2020 to 10 June 2023. Early life and education Ilyin was born in the town of Kuybyshev in present-day Russia. In 1989, he graduated from the Alma-Ata Higher Combined Arms Command School with a specialty in engineering for the operation of tracked and wheeled vehicles. He eventually attended the Kyrgyz State Law University where he earned a degree in law in 2006. Career In August 1989, Ilyin became the commander of a motorized rifle platoon of the 73rd Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 2nd Guards Motorized Rifle Division of the Moscow Military District and from April 1990, he was the commander of the 1st Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment.
