Yuri Anikeev
Yuri Anikeev or Iurii Anikieiev (born June 11, 1983) is a Ukrainian International Grandmaster (GMI) of International and Brazilian draughts. He won the 2023 World Championship in International draughts, also won the 2004 World Championship in Brazilian draughts and won the 2016 Draughts World Championship (rapid). He has been the champion of Ukraine in International draughts and draughts-64 many times. Anikeev was disqualified by the International Draughts Federation (IDF) from participation "in all official IDF competitions on the three years up to December 15, 2019." IDF cites breach of its code of ethics as the reason for the suspension. Akineev claims that his political views as well as his wearing a Ukrainian embroidered shirt at international tournaments are the real reason for the suspension. Kupiansk
Kupiansk ( uk, Куп'янськ, ) is a city in Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine. It serves as the administrative center of Kupiansk Raion. It is also an important railroad junction for the oblast. Kupiansk hosts the administrative offices of Kupiansk Urban Hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Until 18 July 2020, Kupiansk was incorporated as a city of oblast significance and the center of Kupiansk Municipality. Annexation Of Crimea By The Russian Federation
In February and March 2014, Russia invaded and subsequently annexed the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine. This event took place in the aftermath of the Revolution of Dignity and is part of the wider Russo-Ukrainian War. The Fédération Mondiale du Jeu de Dames (FMJD, World Draughts Federation) is the international body uniting national draughts federations. It was founded in 1947 by four Federations: France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. Members Currently, the FMJD has more than 70 national federation members in 2021. 2023 World Draughts Championship
The 2023 World Draughts Championship at the international draughts was held from September 28 to October 13, 2023, in Willemstad, Curaçao under the auspices International Draughts Federation FMJD. Twenty players competed in the tournament, which play as a round-robin. The winning prize for the tournament was 20,000 euros. 2017 World Draughts Championship
The 2017 World Draughts Championship at the international draughts held in Tallinn, Estonia. 79 players, who qualified through the championships of Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America competed in the tournament, which ran from October 1, 2017, to October 16, 2017. The 2013 World Draughts Championship was an international draughts tournament held in Ufa, Russia. 40 players from 24 countries who qualified through the championships of Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America competed in the tournament, which began on June 2, 2013 and ended on June 20, 2013.
