Ysgol Brynrefail
Ysgol Brynrefail is a bilingual comprehensive school for pupils aged 11–18. It is situated in Llanrug in Gwynedd, north Wales. Most of the school's pupils come from the villages on Llanrug, Bethel, Llanberis and the surrounding rural area. As of 2021, there were 778 pupils on roll at the school in 2016. Its current headmistress is Mrs Ellen Williams. Welsh language Ysgol Brynrefail is categorised linguistically by the Welsh Government as a category 2A school, meaning that at least 80 per cent of subjects apart from English and Welsh are taught only through the medium of Welsh to all pupils. However, one or two subjects are taught to some pupils in English or in both languages. According to the school's latest Estyn inspection report in 2020, 86% of pupils come from Welsh-speaking homes and 98% are fluent Welsh speakers. Comprehensive School

Y Bandana
Y Bandana are a Welsh language alternative rock band that formed in Caernarfon in 2008. The band is composed of brothers Tomos Owens (keyboard) and Siôn Owens (bass guitar), their cousin Gwilym Bowen Rhys (lead vocals, guitar) and Robin Jones (percussion). They are known for combining humorous lyrics with catchy melodies. Eurig Wyn
Eurig Wyn (10 October 1944 – 25 June 2019) was a Welsh politician and reporter. He was a Plaid Cymru Member of the European Parliament for Wales from 1999 to 2004, when he lost his seat, in part due to a reduction of the number of seats allocated to Wales. He had previously been a journalist for the BBC. During 2005, Eurig Wyn was selected as Plaid Cymru's parliamentary candidate for the Ynys Môn constituency which he unsuccessfully sought to gain for Plaid Cymru in the general election of that year. Rhun Williams (born 5 June 1997) is a retired Welsh rugby union player. He grew up in Llanrug. Rhun played primarily as a fullback for Cardiff Blues, but also could play wing. He was a Wales U20 international. William Gwenlyn Parry (8 June 1932 – 5 November 1991) was a Welsh dramatist, the author of several plays in Welsh, including ''Saer Doliau'' (1966), ''Ty ar y Tywod'' (1968), ''Y Ffin (1973), ''Panto'', ''Sal'' and ''Y Tŵr'' (1978). Early life Parry was born in the Welsh slate-quarrying village of Deiniolen, Caernarfonshire (Gwynedd). He initially worked as a teacher, teaching mathematics at a school in London and later science through the medium of Welsh in Bethesda, Wales. Derwyddon Dr Gonzo
Derwyddon Dr Gonzo were a Welsh-language funk and ska band from Llanrug, North Wales. Having reached number one in Siart C2 (Welsh Language Music Chart), their music has received airplay on BBC Radio Cymru, BBC Radio 1 and Serbian radio. The band performed regularly on the Welsh language scene circuit, in addition to larger festivals such as Latitude Festival, Wakestock, Sŵn, Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau and ''Maes B'' at the National Eisteddfod. Their second EP, ''Chaviach/Bwthyn'' was released on the Copa Label in 2008. David Brailsford
Sir David John Brailsford (born 29 February 1964) is a British cycling coach. He was formerly performance director of British Cycling and is currently general manager of UCI WorldTeam . Malcolm Allen (footballer)
Malcolm Allen (born 21 March 1967) is a Welsh football coach, former professional footballer and sports pundit and co-commentator. As a player, he was a striker, notably having a brief spell in the Premier League with Newcastle United and a loan spell with Aston Villa, although spells with Watford, Norwich City and Millwall in the Football League brought most of his appearances during his career. He retired having had a brief spell with non-league side Stevenage Borough. He was capped 14 times by Wales, scoring 3 goals. Llanrug
Llanrug (or Llanfihangel-yn-y-grug) is a medium-sized village and community in Gwynedd, north-west Wales. It lies about to the east of Caernarfon, south of Bangor and northwest of Llanberis. It is the largest populated village in the Arfon area of Gwynedd, Wales. The old name of the village was Llanfihangel-y-Rug, derived from Eglwys Sant Mihangel, which is situated about half a mile west of the village. The busy A4086 road from Llanberis Pass to Caernarfon runs through the village. The community includes the villages of Cwm-y-glo, Ceunant, and Pont-rug. The Pontrhythallt area of Llanrug was the site of the disused Pontrhythallt railway station that had its rails finally removed in 1965. Estyn is the education and training inspectorate for Wales. Its name comes from the Welsh language verb ''estyn'' meaning "to reach (out), stretch or extend".
