Youth Projects provides a broad range of services designed tackling social disadvantage, homelessness and drug and alcohol issues including health and education programs, community outreach and training and employment services. Youth Projects operates a drop-in centre in Hosier Lane called The Living Room, and its main office is located in Glenroy. Origin In 1981, the Broadmeadows City Council established a drop-in centre in a building at 6 Hartington Street, Glenroy. The centre was aimed at the young unemployed as a safe place to discuss their personal issues. Hosier Lane is a laneway in the central business district (CBD) of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Located on the CBD's southern edge, it extends between Flinders Street and Flinders Lane, and opens opposite the Atrium at Federation Square. Glenroy is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, north of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Merri-bek local government area. John Cain II
John Cain (26 April 1931 – 23 December 2019) was an Australian politician who was the 41st Premier of Victoria, in office from 1982 to 1990 as leader of the Australian Labor Party (Victorian Branch), Labor Party. During his time as premier, reforms were introduced such as liberalised shop trading hours and liquor laws, equal opportunity initiatives, and occupational health and safety legislation. Richmond Football Club
The Richmond Football Club, nicknamed the Tigers, is an Australian rules football team playing in the Australian Football League (AFL). Between its inception in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond in 1885 and 1907, the club competed in the Victorian Football Association (VFA), winning two premierships. Richmond joined the Victorian Football League (now known as the AFL) in 1908 and has since won 13 premierships, most recently in 2020. Richmond's headquarters and training facilities are located at its original home ground, the Punt Road Oval, which sits adjacent to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the club's playing home since 1965. Melbourne Day is an annual celebration to mark the founding of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia, on 30 August 1835. Melbourne was settled on 30 August 1835 by a party of free settlers from Van Diemen's Land. The party was led by John Lancey aboard the schooner '' Enterprize'', and was funded by the businessman John Pascoe Fawkner.
