Young Magic
Young Magic is an American electronic music group from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2010. The project consists of multi-instrumentalists and producers Melati Malay and Isaac Emmanuel. The group is known for their percussive musical style, often incorporating field recordings made by band members. The duo have released mixtapes in collaboration with London-based visual artist Leif Podhajsky, who is also responsible for the band's album cover artwork. They have collaborated with American composer Kelsey Lu, UK trip hop pioneer Tricky, and have been sampled by Purity Ring and Playboi Carti. History Formation Original members Melati Malay, Isaac Emmanuel and Michael Italia met in New York City during 2010. Malay was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, Emmanuel and Italia in Australia. Lowlands (festival)
A Campingflight to Lowlands Paradise (commonly called Lowlands or Lowlands Festival), is an annual three-day music and performing arts festival, held in the Netherlands. The festival is held east of Amsterdam in Biddinghuizen, at Spijk en Bremerberg, which is adjacent to Walibi Holland. Although the main focus is on music - rock, pop, dance, hip hop and alternative - Lowlands also offers indoor and outdoor cinema, (street) theatre, cabaret and stand-up, ballet, literature and comic strips. TV on the Radio (TVOTR) is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2001. The band consists of Tunde Adebimpe (vocals, loops), David Andrew Sitek (guitars, keyboards, loops), Kyp Malone (vocals, guitars, bass, loops), and Jaleel Bunton (drums, bass, vocals, loops, guitars). Gerard Smith (bass, keyboards, loops) was a member of the band from 2005 until his death in 2011. David Kyp Joel Malone (born February 27, 1973) is an American multi-instrumentalist and member of the bands TV on the Radio, Iran, Rain Machine, and Ice Balloons. Biography Malone grew up in Moon Township, Pennsylvania and moved to New Jersey for High School. He graduated from North Hunterdon High School in 1991. Malone formed the band Iran with film director/singer/songwriter Aaron Aites in 2000. He later joined Tunde Adebimpe and David Sitek in TV on the Radio on ''Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes'' and has been in the band ever since. He writes, sings and plays instruments for the band. In his lyrics, he uses poetic imagery to address racism, show business, and politics in an indirect manner. Malone is in the band Ice Balloons and is also a member of The Yams Collective. They announced their split on December 19, 2019. Erin Rioux (pronounced ree-yoo) is an electronic psychedelic record producer, vocalist, and curator based in Brooklyn who makes music under the stage name Rioux. His work merges technology with traditional instrumentation, particularly guitar and bass guitar, to create a rhythmic yet cerebral sonic environment. Mtendere Mandowa, better known by his stage name Teebs, is an American record producer and visual artist from Los Angeles, California. He is a member of the My Hollow Drum collective.
