Young Animal (DC Comics)
DC's Young Animal is a "pop-up" Imprint (trade name), imprint of DC Comics started in 2016. It was developed in collaboration with Gerard Way, an American musician and comic book writer, author of ''The Umbrella Academy''. Its main focus is to relaunch characters and settings from the DC Universe in stories for mature readers, done with a more experimental approach than DC's primary line of superhero comics. The line has been overseen by Vertigo Comics, Vertigo group editor Jamie S. Rich and executive editor Mark Doyle. Gerard Way has said that a shared theme of the Young Animal comics is "relationships between parents and children". Cecil C. Castellucci (born October 25, 1969 in New York City), also known as Cecil Seaskull, is an American-born Canadian young adult novelist, indie rocker, and director. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California. Biography Castellucci grew up in New York City where she attended the Laguardia High School of the Performing Arts. She later studied theatre in Paris at the École Florent. She attended Concordia University in Montreal and received a B.F.A. in Film Production. Magdalene Visaggio (born September 22, 1984) is an American comic book writer. Visaggio is known for her work on ''Kim & Kim'' and ''Vagrant Queen''. Her comics have been nominated for two Eisner Awards and three GLAAD Media Awards. Her comic series ''Vagrant Queen'' was adapted into a television series which ran for a single season on Syfy in 2020. Personal life Visaggio was born in 1984 on Long Island and grew up in Richmond, Virginia. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University and Seton Hall University. She has stated that she has autism. Michael Dalton Allred is an American comic book artist and writer most famous for his independent comics creations, ''Madman'' and ''iZombie''. His style is often compared to pop art, as well as commercial and comic art of the 1950s and 1960s. Early life Allred was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Upon his parents' divorce, he was raised with his father in Oregon, while his brothers and mother moved to Utah.
