Yoshihito Nishioka
is a Japanese tennis player. He has won two ATP Tour singles titles and achieved a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 36 on 7 November 2022. He is currently the No. 1 Japanese player. Career Junior career As a junior, he compiled a 113–49 win–loss record in singles (and 63–45 in doubles), achieving a combined ranking of No.12 in the world in January 2012. Filip Peliwo was the defending champion, but was no longer eligible to compete in junior tennis, and thus could not defend his title. Gianluigi Quinzi defeated Chung Hyeon in the final, 7–5, 7–6(7–2) to win the boys' singles tennis title at the 2013 Wimbledon Championships. The Pepperstone ATP rankings are the merit-based method used by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) for determining the qualification for entry as well as the seeding of players in all singles and doubles tournaments. The first rankings for singles were published on 23 August 1973 while the doubles players were ranked for the first time on 1 March 1976. Ranking points are awarded according to the stage of tournament reached, and the prestige of the tournament, with the four Grand Slam tournaments awarding the most points. The rankings are updated every Monday, and points are dropped 52 weeks after being awarded (with the exception of the ATP Finals, from which points are dropped on the Monday following the last ATP Tour event of the following year).
