Yordan Popyordanov
Yordan "Orce" Popyordanov ( bg, Йордан (Орце) Пoпйopдaнoв; mk, Јордан (Орце) Поп Јорданов; 1881 – April 17, 1903) was a Bulgarian revolutionary and anarchist in Ottoman Macedonia. Biography After graduating from the Bulgarian Men's High School of Thessaloniki he joined the "''Gemidzhii Circle''", which in the spring of 1903 launched a campaign of Thessaloniki bombings of 1903 to draw world attention to the conditions in Macedonia under Ottoman rule. One of the buildings chosen was the French Ottoman Bank, which Orce was assigned to bomb through the underground passageway dug out weeks before by the Gemidzhii. Prior to the attacks, he visited Geneva to consult with Macedonian Supreme Committee leader Boris Sarafov about the attacks. He then received 10,000 Swiss francs from him. Bulgarians ( bg, българи, Bǎlgari, ) are a nation and South Slavic ethnic group native to Bulgaria and the rest of Southeast Europe. Etymology Bulgarians derive their ethnonym from the Bulgars. Macedonians or Macedonian Bulgarians ( bg, македонци or македонски българи), sometimes also referred to as Macedono-Bulgarians, Macedo-Bulgarians, or Bulgaro-Macedonians are a regional, ethnographic group of ethnic Bulgarians, inhabiting or originating from the region of Macedonia. Supreme Macedonian Committee
Supreme Macedonian-Adrianople Committee (SMAC), ( bg, Върховен македоно - одрински комитет, (ВМОК)), also known as Supreme Macedonian Committee was a Bulgarian paramilitary and political organization, active in Bulgaria as well as in Macedonia and Thrace regions of the Ottoman Empire. It was based in Bulgaria from 1895 to 1905. Macedonian Bulgarian and Thracian Bulgarian emigrants in Bulgaria were a great number. Bulgarian Lev
The lev ( bg, лев, plural: / , ; ISO 4217 code: BGN; numeric code: 975) is the currency of Bulgaria. In old Bulgarian the word "lev" meant "lion", the word 'lion' in the modern language is ''lаv'' (; in Bulgarian: ). The lev is divided in 100 ''stotinki'' (, singular: , ). Stotinka in Bulgarian means "a hundredth" and in fact is a translation of the French term "centime". Grammatically the word "stotinka" comes from the word "sto" (сто) - a hundred. Since 1997, the lev has been in a currency board arrangement with initially the Deutsche Mark at a fixed rate of BGL 1000 to DEM 1. After the introduction of the euro and the redenomination of the lev in 1999, this has resulted in a fixed rate to the euro of BGN 1.95583 : EUR 1.
