Yom Huledet
"Yom Huledet (Happy Birthday)" ( he, יום הולדת; meaning " Birthday") was the entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, performed in Hebrew and English by Eden. The song was written by Yitzhak Baranes, , Jacky Oved, and , and composed by Baranes, Lamai, Oved, and Moshe Datz; Datz previously produced the , as well as represented Israel in Eurovision in as part of Duo Datz with "Kan". Composition The song is a lively and fast-paced tune, showcasing the Contest's growing emphasis on dance-friendly music. In the song, the band sings about the simple happiness of having a birthday and enjoying it with a party. The song's sound is somewhat reminiscent of American music, influenced by two of the singers, Eddie and Gabriel Butler, who are Black Israelites. Eden (Israeli Band)
Eden ( he, עדן) were an Israeli vocal group active between 1996 and 2001, consisting of Doron Oren, Rafael Dahan and brothers Gabriel and Eddie Butler. They are known primarily for their participation in the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest. Eden were chosen by internal selection to represent Israel in the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest with the song " Yom Huledet (Happy Birthday)". As a result of Dana International's Eurovision victory the previous year, the 1999 contest was held on their home ground in Jerusalem on 29 May, when "Yom Huledet (Birthday)" finished in a respectable fifth place of the 23 entries. Eden also recorded several music tracks for the Italian albums "The Long Road: Grandi Classici Per Viaggiare" and "California: The Best of West Coast Music Vol. 2" released in 2005. "Sameyakh" or "Sameach" ( he, label=Hebrew alphabet, Hebrew script, שמייח; meaning "happy") is a Hebrew song by the pop band PingPong (band), PingPong, a quartet consisting of Guy Asif, Roy Arad, Yifat Giladi and Ahal Eden. PingPong ( he, פינג פונג) is an Israeli pop quartet that represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000 with the song Sameach ( he, שמח, lit. ''Happy''). The members of the band were: Guy Assif, Ahal Eden, Roy Arad and Yifat Giladi.
