Toshifumi (Toshi) Yokota ( ja, 横田俊文, Yokota Toshifumi) is a medical scientist and professor of medical genetics at the University of Alberta, where he also holds the titles of the Friends of Garrett Cumming Research & Muscular Dystrophy Canada Endowed Research Chair and the Henri M. Toupin Chair in Neurological Science. He is best known for his studies of antisense oligonucleotide-based therapeutics for muscular dystrophy that led to the development of an FDA-approved drug viltolarsen. His research interests include precision medicine for muscular dystrophy and genetic diseases. Susumu Yokota (横田 進 ''Yokota Susumu'', or ススム・ヨコタ ''Susumu Yokota''; born 1960 or 1961 – March 27, 2015) was a Japanese composer. He released several albums under pseudonyms including Stevia, Ebi, and others. Yokota worked as an economist before beginning to work as a DJ and producer. Yokota was well known in the English-speaking independent music scene for his albums of experimental ambient music, including albums like '' Acid Mt. Fuji'' and ''Sakura''. Megumi Yokota
(born 5 October 1964) is a Japanese citizen who was abducted by a North Korean agent in 1977 when she was a thirteen-year-old junior high school student. She was one of at least seventeen Japanese citizens kidnapped by North Korea in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The North Korean government has admitted to kidnapping Yokota, but has said that she died in captivity. Yokota's parents and others in Japan have publicly expressed the belief that she is still alive in North Korea and have waged a public campaign seeking her return to Japan. Masato Yokota
is a Japanese track and field athlete, specializing in the 800 metres. He was Japanese record holder in the 800 metres from October 18, 2009 until May 11, 2014. He graduated the Keio University. He trains at Fujitsu Track & Field team. As the winner of the 2012 Japanese Olympic Trials, Masato represented his home country in the 2012 Summer Olympics. He has also competed in the 2007 and 2011 IAAF World Championships in Athletics. As of 2012, he has won six Japan Championships (2006 - 2007, 2009 - 2012). Masato trains in the United States as a member of the Santa Monica Track Club. After his competition career, Masato currently is the head coach of the NIKE TOKYO TRACK CLUB in Tokyo, Japan.
