Yeshivat Hesder Petah Tikva is a Hesder Yeshiva located in Petah Tikva, Israel. Established in 1998, it currently has approximately 200 students, of whom 25% are actively serving in the Israel Defense Forces, IDF. Hesder Yeshiva
Hesder ( he, הסדר "arrangement"; also Yeshivat Hesder ) is an Israeli yeshiva program which combines advanced Talmudic studies with military service in the Israel Defense Forces, usually within a Religious Zionist framework. The program allows Orthodox Jewish men to serve in the Israeli military while still engaging in Torah study. Description Hesder service usually lasts a total of five years, within which participants are officially soldiers in the IDF. Through those five years, 16 months are dedicated to actual army service, comprising both training and active duty. In some Hesder Yeshivas, service lasts six years, of which 24 months are army service. Almost all Hesder Yeshiva students serve in the army as combat soldiers. Petah Tikva ( he, פֶּתַח תִּקְוָה, , ), also known as ''Em HaMoshavot'' (), is a city in the Central District (Israel), Central District of Israel, east of Tel Aviv. Yuval Cherlow
Yuval Cherlow (born 1957) is a Modern Orthodox rabbi and posek. He is Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Hesder Amit Orot Shaul in Tel Aviv, Israel. Cherlow was one of the founders of Tzohar, an organization of religious Zionist Orthodox rabbis in Israel. Biography Yuval Cherlow was born in Herzliya, Israel. His parents were American-Jewish immigrants who moved to Israel in 1949. He was educated in Yeshivat Har Etzion. As part of his Hesder studies, he served as an armor officer in the IDF. In the reserves he was a company commander in the armoured corps. He lives in Efrat with his wife, who is a lecturer in the department of Jewish philosophy in Bar Ilan University. David Stav
Rabbi David Stav ( he, דוד סתיו, born 13 May 1960) is the chief rabbi of the city of Shoham, the chairman of the Tzohar organization, and serves as a rabbi for the Ezra youth movement. Biography Stav was born in Jerusalem, the son of Shmuel Dov Stav, a librarian at the Yeshurun synagogue, and Idel (Hadassa), the daughter of Rabbi Gedaliah Moshe Goldman, the Rebbe of Zvhil. He studied at Yeshivat Bnei Akiva Nativ Meir and later at Mercaz HaRav Yeshiva, under Rabbi Avraham Shapira, whom he views as his rabbi. He was ordained as a religious judge at the kollel in Psagot. Tzohar Rabbinical Organization ( he, ארגון רבני צהר, ''Irgun Rabbanei Tzohar'') is an Israeli organization of over 800 religious Zionist Orthodox rabbis.
