''Yesenia'' is a 1971 Mexican film directed by Alfredo B. Crevenna, based on an original story by Yolanda Vargas Dulché. The film stars Jacqueline Andere as the titular character, along with Jorge Lavat. ''Yesenia'' was a blockbuster in the Soviet Union, where it sold 91.4million tickets, and became the highest-grossing foreign film in the Soviet Union. Due to this success abroad, it ranks among the world's non-English language films with the highest attendance record. Plot Yesenia (Jacqueline Andere) had grown up among gypsies but her mother was white. Obliged by the circumstances (and her parents), she felt the need to give her child to an old gypsy woman whom Yesenia believed to be her grandmother. The love of a soldier, disappointment, and other misunderstandings reveal the hidden truth. ''Yesenia'' is a Mexican telenovela produced by Irene Sabido for Televisa in 1987. The protagonists of this telenovela were Adela Noriega and Luis Uribe, while Noe Murayama starred as antagonist. Plot Yesenia is a beautiful Roma woman who lives different situations in an aimlessly fixed way with the company of her caravan. In one of her many trips she meets a military man, Osvaldo Moncada, and falls in love with him. They will have to prove that their love is stronger than their differences and social prejudice that separate them. Yesenia Centeno Sousa (born June 27, 1971, in Ciego de Ávila, Cuba) is a Spanish marathon runner. In 2003, she adopted Spanish nationality in order to compete internationally for the marathon. Five years later, she achieved a top-ten finish at the Fortis Rotterdam Marathon, and also, set her personal best time of 2:31:16 by finishing fourth at the Hamburg Marathon. At age thirty-seven, Centeno made her official debut for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed in the women's marathon, along with her compatriots Alessandra Aguilar and María José Pueyo. She finished the race in forty-fifth place by less than a second ahead of Portugal's Ana Dias, with a time of 2:36:25. Centeno is a member of Club Atletico Valencia Terra i Mar in Valencia, Spain, being coached and trained by Guillermo Ferrero. She rose to prominence as a first-year senior in 2014 but soon encountered an injury that sidelined her for two seasons until she returned in 2017.
