Yesenia (film)
''Yesenia'' is a 1971 Mexican film directed by Alfredo B. Crevenna, based on an original story by Yolanda Vargas Dulché. The film stars Jacqueline Andere as the titular character, along with Jorge Lavat. ''Yesenia'' was a blockbuster in the Soviet Union, where it sold 91.4million tickets, and became the highest-grossing foreign film in the Soviet Union. Due to this success abroad, it ranks among the world's non-English language films with the highest attendance record. Plot Yesenia (Jacqueline Andere) had grown up among gypsies but her mother was white. Obliged by the circumstances (and her parents), she felt the need to give her child to an old gypsy woman whom Yesenia believed to be her grandmother. The love of a soldier, disappointment, and other misunderstandings reveal the hidden truth. Isabela Corona''Cronología de Teatro en México - 1926/10''' (in Spanish) (July 2, 1913 – July 8, 1993) was a Mexican actress. She debuted during the first decade of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Biography Isabela Corona was born as Refugio Pérez Frías in El Chante, a municipio of Autlán, Jalisco. In her early years she moved to Mexico City, where she started her career on stage of the ''teatro Ideal'' as a teenager in 1926. Afterwards she participated in the Teatro Ulises and the Teatro Orientación movement of the Los Contemporáneos group, and made afterwards a career in the theater, movie and television businesses. She became better known in the end of the 1930s, when she played in ''La noche de los mayas''. She was considered, along with Esther Fernández, Andrea Palma and Lupe Vélez, a great Mexican cinema diva of the 1930s. Corona died six days after her 80th birthday from a heart attack. Plot Yesenia is a beautiful Roma woman who lives different situations in an aimlessly fixed way with the company of her caravan. In one of her many trips she meets a military man, Osvaldo Moncada, and falls in love with him. They will have to prove that their love is stronger than their differences and social prejudice that separate them.
