Yerushalmim
Yerushalmim ( he, ירושלמים; ) is an Israeli local civilian organization and political party in Jerusalem. History Yerushalmim was formed in 2008 by Rachel Azaria, who was elected that year to the city council of Jerusalem. Yerushalmim is a municipal party whose members consist of secular and religious candidates and supporters, aiming to turn Jerusalem into a more pluralistic and open city. Its main target is to improve the life quality of the residents, together with battling radicalization and inequity in the public arena. The party was established in 2008 by its current leader Rachel Azaria in an effort to contend in the municipal Elections in Jerusalem. The organization contended in co-operation with the Hitorrerut Be'Yerushalaim party, turning to the young secular and religious audiences in the city, and won two seats in the city council, attracting 16,692 votes. Rachel Azaria
Rachel Azaria ( he, רחל עזריה, born 21 December 1977), is an Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Kulanu. She previously served as deputy mayor and member of the Jerusalem City Council. Biography Rachel Azaria was born in Jerusalem to Israel Azaria, a Tunisian-Jewish immigrant to Israel, and Sharon Friedman, an American Jewish immigrant to Israel at age 18. She grew up on moshav Beit Gamliel and was educated in the National Religious school system. After serving in the Israel Defense Forces, Azaria studied at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where she earned a BA in Psychology and a master's degree in conflict resolution. She won the Tami Steinmetz Prize for her master's thesis on the self-perception of the founders of the first Israeli settlements in Samaria. Fleur Hassan-Nahoum ( he, פלר חסן-נחום; born September 27, 1973) is an Israeli politician and policy maker. She currently serves as Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem in charge of foreign relations, international economic development and tourism. She is also the co-founder and founding member of the UAE - Israel Business Council. Biography Fleur Hassan-Nahoum was born in London, UK, and grew up in Gibraltar. She is the daughter of Sir Joshua Abraham Hassan, who served as Chief Minister and Mayor of Gibraltar, and his second wife Lady Marcelle Bensimon, both of Moroccan and Portuguese Jewish origin. Aaron Leibowitz is an American-born Israeli rabbi. Rabbinic and political career Aaron Leibowitz is a noted educator, and started Hashgacha Pratit, a kosher certification independent of the Israeli Chief Rabbinate. Israel's political system is based on proportional representation and allows for a multi-party system with numerous parties represented in the 120-seat Knesset. A typical Knesset includes many factions represented. This is because of the low election threshold required for a seat – 1 percent of the vote from 1949 to 1992, 1.5 percent from 1992 to 2003, 2 percent from 2003 to 2014, and 3.25 percent since 2015. In the 2015 elections, for instance, ten parties or alliances cleared the threshold, and five of them won at least ten seats.
