Yekwon Sunwoo
Yekwon Sunwoo ( ko, 선우예권; born February 10, 1989, in Anyang) is a South Korean classical pianist. In 2017, at 28 years old, Sunwoo was the first Korean to win the gold medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He won the Sendai International Music Competition in 2013. Background Sunwoo was born in Anyang, South Korea in 1989. He began studying piano at the age of 8, drawn to the instrument from hearing his two older sisters play. By 2004 at the age of 15, he had given both his recital and orchestra debuts in Seoul. Sunwoo attended Seoul Arts High School in South Korea. While living in Korea, Sunwoo studied with Min-ja Shin and Sun-wha Kim. At the age of 15, Sunwoo moved to the United States to attend the Curtis Institute of Music where he received the Rachmaninoff prize and studied with Seymour Lipkin. The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (FWSO) is an American symphony orchestra based in Fort Worth, Texas. The orchestra is resident at the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall. In addition to its symphonic and pops concert series, the FWSO also collaborates with the Fort Worth Opera, Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, Southwestern Seminary Master Chorale. and the Children's Education Program of Bass Performance Hall. Brentano String Quartet
The Brentano Quartet is an American string quartet. History Founded in 1992 at the Juilliard School, the quartet's founding members were violinists Mark Steinberg and Serena Canin, violist Misha Amory, and cellist Michael Kannen. At the suggestion of Canin's husband, a pianist, the quartet took its name from Antonie Brentano, who has been proposed as Beethoven's "Immortal Beloved". The quartet made its public New York City concert debut in February 1994. In 1995, the quartet received the Naumburg Award and the Martin Segal Prize. Kannen left the quartet in May 1998, following his wife's injury in an automobile accident, to care for his young child. Nina Lee then joined the quartet as the ensemble's cellist. International German Piano Award
The International German Piano Award is a yearly international music competition for classical piano music since 2011. The International Piano Forum is the initiator and organizer of the competition. The prize money amounts to a total of 20,000 euros and aims to support outstanding Pianists. A first international jury elects and nominates pianists under notary procedure.
