Yehudi Menuhin School
The Yehudi Menuhin School is a Specialist school, specialist music school in Stoke d'Abernon, Surrey, England, founded in 1963 by violinist and conductor Yehudi Menuhin. The current director of music is the British classical pianist Ashley Wass. The school is one of the five established musical schools for school-age children in the United Kingdom, along with Chetham's School of Music, Wells Cathedral School, the Purcell School and St. Mary's Music School, Edinburgh. It is mainly funded by the Department for Education's Music and Dance Scheme, by philanthropic foundations, by donations and bequests from individuals, and by regular support from the Friends of the Yehudi Menuhin School. Bobby Chen (pianist)
Bobby Chen is a Malaysian pianist. He has been praised by the ''Independent'', ''Guardian'', ''Irish Examiner'', and ''Straits Times'' newspapers and was described by ''International Piano Magazine'' as "an armour-clad player of complete technique, a thinking musician, a natural Romantic. Corinne Chapelle
Corinne Chapelle (May 5, 1976 – March 23, 2021) was a French-American violinist. She was born in California, her father was French and her mother Tunisian. She started her violin studies as a two-year-old and gave her first concert one year later. She studied with Yehudi Menuhin at his school in England, following which she studied at the Juilliard School of Music and joined Pinchas Zukerman's class in New York. Upon hearing Chapelle at the age of fifteen, Yehudi Menuhin said about her: "One of the most promising talents of her generation". Colin Carr
Colin Carr (born 25 October 1957) is a British cello soloist, chamber musician, recording artist and teacher. Biography Born in Liverpool, Carr is professor of cello at the Royal Academy of Music. He taught at the New England Conservatory in Boston for 16 years before joining the Royal Academy's faculty. He is also affiliated with the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Carr has won many prestigious international awards, including First Prize in the Naumburg Competition, the Gregor Piatigorsky Memorial Award, Second Prize in the Rostropovich International Cello Competition and the Young Concert artists competition. Nicola Benedetti
Nicola Joy Nadia Benedetti (born 20 July 1987) is an Italian-British classical solo violinist and festival director. Her ability was recognised when she was a child, including the award of BBC Young Musician of the Year when she was 16. She works with orchestras in Europe and America as well as with Alexei Grynyuk, her regular pianist. Since 2012 she has played the Gariel Stradivarius violin. Corina Belcea
Corina Belcea (born 1975) is a Romanian violinist who resides in Basel, Switzerland. Biography She started violin lessons at the age of six. Her teachers in Romania were Radu Bozgan and Ştefan Gheorghiu. In 1991, she took part in the Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists. Yehudi Menuhin then invited her to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School. Her teacher there was Natalia Boyarskaya. She continued her studies at the Royal College of Music. Levine Andrade
Levine Andrade (1954 – 20 November 2018) was an Indian-born British musician (violin and viola), and conductor. Early life Levine was born in Bombay to his parents Bonaventure and Juliana, and emigrated to England. Following a scholarship to the Yehudi Menuhin School at the age of 9 he became one of its first twelve members and was tutored by Robert Masters and Yehudi Menuhin. At the age of 11, BBC Television made a full documentary about him in their series "The World of a Child". Mstislav Rostropovich
Mstislav Leopoldovich Rostropovich, (27 March 192727 April 2007) was a Russian cellist and conductor. He is considered by many to be the greatest cellist of the 20th century. Natalya Konstantinovna Boyarskaya (russian: Ната́лья Константи́новна Боя́рская; born 1946) is a Russian violinist and music teacher. She is the wife of the cellist Alexander Boyarsky and mother of the violinist Konstantin Boyarsky. Biography She studied violin at Moscow Conservatory Music College under Maya Glezarova and Yuri Yankelevich, and later graduated from Felix Andrievsky's class at Gnessin State Musical College. From 1971 to 1990 she taught at the junior department of Moscow Conservatory Music College, heading the Strings Department there.
