Yeast (film)
''Yeast'' is a 2008 comedy film directed by Mary Bronstein starring Bronstein, Greta Gerwig, and Amy Judd. The film has been characterized as typifying the mumblecore ethos. Plot Rachel is a young teacher living in Brooklyn with her roommate Alice. The pair plan to go camping with their friend Gen, but Alice drops out from the trip at the last minute. Over the course of the trip, Rachel becomes annoyed with Gen's immature attitude, but the friends strengthen their bond when fending off unpleasant behavior from a pair of men they meet in the woods. Back in Brooklyn, Alice and her boyfriend Tony make fun of Rachel, and Rachel and Alice have a confrontation regarding Alice's new job. Production ''Yeast'' was shot on a MiniDV camcorder by Sean Price Williams, who also appears in the film as Tony. Mary Bronstein ( Wall, born 1979) is an American actress and filmmaker best known for the 2008 mumblecore film '' Yeast''. Early life and education Bronstein was born in White Plains, New York in 1979. She attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts. South By Southwest
South by Southwest, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States. It began in 1987 and has continued to grow in both scope and size every year. A comedy film is a category of film which emphasizes humor. These films are designed to make the audience laugh through amusement. Films in this style traditionally have a happy ending (black comedy being an exception). Comedy is one of the oldest genres in film and it is derived from the classical comedy in theatre. DV refers to a family of codecs and tape formats used for storing digital video, launched in 1995 by a consortium of video camera manufacturers led by Sony and Panasonic.
