Yasuj Airport
Yasuj Airport is an airport serving Yasuj, a city in the Zagros Mountains of southwestern Iran, and capital of the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province. The airport and the city are also known Yasouj. Airlines and destinations Accidents On 18 February 2018, Iran Aseman Airlines Flight 3704 from Tehran Mehrabad International Airport to Yasuj crashed; all 65 passengers on board were presumed to be killed. Initial reports revealed that the aircraft collided into Mount Dena due to bad weather. The caused of the crash is currently under investigation. Iran Aseman Airlines ( fa, هواپیمایی آسمان, Havâpeymâyi-ye Âsemân) is the third-largest Iranian airline headquartered in Tehran. Dena
Dena (in Luri and fa, ) is the name for a sub-range within the Zagros Mountains, Iran. Mount Dena, with length and average width, is situated on the boundary of the Isfahan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Provinces of Iran. Mount Dena has more than 40 peaks higher than . With an elevation of 4,409 metres above sea level, Qash-Mastan is the highest peak in the Dena Range and in the Zagros Mountains in general. Another known peak in this range is Hose-Daal close to the city of Sisakht, to the north of Yasuj. Annual precipitation in Mount Dena ranges from and various rivers including a branch of the Karun rise in this range. Geologically, Mount Dena is located in the Sanandaj-Sirjan geologic and structural zone of Iran and is mainly made of Cretaceous limestone. Iran Aseman Airlines Flight 3704
Iran Aseman Airlines Flight 3704 was a scheduled Iranian domestic passenger flight from Iranian capital Tehran Mehrabad International Airport to Yasuj in southwest Iran. On 18 February 2018, during its approach to Yasuj, the aircraft serving the flight, an ATR 72-212 operated by Iran Aseman Airlines, crashed into Mount Dena in the Zagros Mountains near Noqol village in Semirom county, Isfahan Province. All 60 passengers and 6 crew members on board were killed. According to the interim report, which was published on 18 February 2019 by the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization (CAO), the accident was caused by multiple factors, with pilot error considered as the main cause. The investigation showed that the crew decided to continue to Yasuj despite deteriorating weather conditions in the area. During its approach, the crew elected to descend below the minimum altitude.
