The is a professional golf tournament on the Japan Golf Tour. First played in 1963, it is one of the tour's four major championships. Since 1995, it has been held at the Tokyo Yomiuri Country Club in Inagi, Tokyo. History From its inception in 1963 to 1972 the field was limited to the winners of six important tournaments in Japan: Japan Open, Japan PGA Championship, Kansai Open, Kansai Pro Championship, Kanto Open and Kanto Pro Championship. In some years a player won two of these event and the field was reduced further, to five. It has recently been one of the season ending events on the tour with a limited field consisting of the top 30 players from the money list and that seasons tournament winners. Chawalit Plaphol (born 30 August 1974) is a Thai golfer. He took up golf at the age of twelve and won team and individual gold medals for Thailand at the 1995 South East Asian Games. Kenichi Kuboya
Kenichi Kuboya ( ja, 久保谷 健一, born 11 March 1972) is a Japanese professional golfer. Kuboya won four events on the Japan Golf Tour between 1997 and 2002, picking up two wins in each of those seasons. Both of Kuboya's wins on the Japan Golf Tour in 2002 came in playoffs against seasoned campaigners. He beat Shingo Katayama in extra holes at the Japan PGA Championship and another win against former Open champion Todd Hamilton at the Munsingwear Open KSB Cup. This remains the biggest win of his career. Kuboya had a brief stint on the PGA Tour where he played a full season in 2003.
