ANA Open
The is a professional golf tournament on the Japan Golf Tour. Founded as the Sapporo Open, it has been sponsored by All Nippon Airways since 1973, initially as the ANA Sapporo Open. It is usually held in September each year at the Sapporo Golf Club in Kitahiroshima, Hokkaido. Sapporo's Wattsu and Yuni courses have both played host to the tournament. The tournament scoring record is 268 (20 under par), set by Masashi Ozaki is a Japanese professional golfer. Ozaki is often known as Jumbo Ozaki (ジャンボ尾崎 ''Janbo Ozaki'') on account of his height and length off the tee. Katsumasa Miyamoto ( ja, 宮本勝昌, born 28 August 1972) is a Japanese professional golfer. Miyamoto was born in Shizuoka Prefecture. After turning professional, he joined the Japan Golf Tour, where he has won 12 times. He won his first title in 1998, adding another later that year. Yūsaku Miyazato
is a Japanese professional golfer. In 2006 he became the first modern-era golfer to make two hole in one shots in the same round of a PGA Tour event, at the Reno-Tahoe Open in Nevada. Early life and amateur career Miyazato was born in Higashi, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. He attended Tohoku Fukushi University, and won the Japanese collegiate championship in 2000, and the Japanese Amateur Championship in 2001. In December 2002, he announced his decision to turn pro before his upcoming graduation. He currently plays on the Japan Golf Tour. Professional career At the time of his holes in one, the PGA Tour announced that it was the first time since they had started keeping records. Brendan Mark Jones (born 3 March 1975) is an Australian professional golfer who plays on the Japan Golf Tour, where he has won 15 times between 2002 and 2019. Amateur career Jones has a successful amateur career. He was part of the Australian team that took silver medal in the 1998 Eisenhower Trophy and he won the Australian Amateur in 1999, beating Mahal Pearce 2&1 in the final. Professional career Jones turned professional in 1999. He played two tournaments on the 2000 Japan Golf Tour and has played regularly on the tour since 2001. Shugo Imahira (born 2 October 1992) is a Japanese professional golfer. He has played full-time on the Japan Golf Tour since 2015 and has won four times on the tour, between 2017 and 2019. He was the leading money winner on the tour in 2018 and 2019. Japan Challenge Tour Imahira won twice on the 2014 Japan Challenge Tour en route to winning the season money list title. 2018 Hokkaido Eastern Iburi Earthquake
An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the moment magnitude scale struck Iburi Subprefecture in southern Hokkaido, Japan, on 6 September 2018 at 3:08 a.m. JST. The earthquake's epicenter was near Tomakomai and occurred at a depth of . The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) registered a magnitude of 6.7 Mj and a maximum intensity of 7 on the shindo scale. Shaking from the earthquake was felt strongly in Hokkaido and Aomori Prefecture, and shaking was felt as far away as the Kantō region. Long period ground motion (LPGM) during the earthquake reached maximum of class 4 on the JMA LPGM intensity scales. The earthquake disrupted electrical service throughout Hokkaido, leaving 5.3 million residents without power. Forty-one people were confirmed dead and six hundred and ninety-one were injured.
