Port Jackson Pidgin English or New South Wales Pidgin English is an English-based pidgin that originated in the region of Sydney and Newcastle in New South Wales in the early days of colonisation. Stockmen carried it west and north as they expanded across Australia. It subsequently died out in most of the country, but was creolised (forming Australian Kriol) in the Northern Territory at the Roper River Mission (Ngukurr), where missionaries provided a safe place for Indigenous Australians from the surrounding areas to escape deprivation at the hands of European settlers. Meandu Mine
Meandu Mine is a coal mine west of Yarraman in Neumgna, Queensland, Australia. The open-cut mine supplies coal to Tarong Power Station and Tarong North Power Station. It is owned by Stanwell Corporation and operated by Downer Mining. Work first started on the mine in 1978. The mine has five active working pits. It can supply a maximum of seven million tonnes of coal per year. The mine has enough reserves to continue mining until at least 2037. Owners wanted to replace the existing Meandu mine supply of coal to Tarong with another mine near Kingaroy. Operators of the mine want to continue extracting coal for decades to come. Black-breasted Button-quail
The black-breasted buttonquail (''Turnix melanogaster'') is a rare buttonquail endemic to eastern Australia. As with other buttonquails, it is unrelated to the true quails. The black-breasted buttonquail is a plump quail-shaped bird in length with predominantly marbled black, rufous, and pale brown plumage, marked prominently with white spots and stripes, and white eyes. Like other buttonquails, the female is larger and more boldly coloured than the male, with a distinctive black head and neck sprinkled with fine white markings. The usual sex roles are reversed, as the female mates with multiple male partners and leaves them to incubate the eggs.
