Yangji Cun
Yangji was a village in the Yuexiu District of Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China, which was demolished in 2010 and is now planned to be rebuilt as a 'new community'. Demolition As the city of Guangzhou developed, Yangji was surrounded by newly built skyscrapers in Zhujiang New Town and Wuyang New Town and became incompatible with them with frequent cases of robbery and theft reported in the village . As a result, plans were made for its demolition in 2010. This started on July1 of that year. Yuexiu District is one of 11 urban districts of the prefecture-level city of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, China, located west of the Tianhe District and east of the Liwan District. It is the commercial, political and cultural centre of Guangdong and noted for its high-quality education. The Guangdong provincial government and the Guangzhou city government are both located in the Yuexiu District. Zhujiang New Town
Zhujiang New Town or Zhujiang New City is a central business district in Tianhe District, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. It is bounded by Huangpu Avenue on the north, the Pearl River (China), Pearl River on the south, Guangzhou Avenue on the west and the South China Expressway on the east. Covering an area of 6.44 square kilometre, km2, it is divided by Xiancun Road () into two parts. The larger eastern section contains mainly high-end residential apartments and in the centre lies the Zhujiang park. The Guangzhou Metro () ( and ) is the rapid transit system of the city of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province of China. It is operated by the state-owned Guangzhou Metro Corporation and was the fourth metro system to be built in mainland China, after those of Beijing, Tianjin, and Shanghai. The earliest efforts to build an underground rapid transit system in Guangzhou date back to 1960. In the two decades that followed, the project was brought into the agenda five times but ended up abandoned each time due to financial and technical difficulties. Preparation of what would lead to today's Guangzhou Metro did not start until the 1980s, and it was not until 1993 that construction of the first line, Line 1, officially began.
