Yamma, Yamma
Finland entered the Eurovision Song Contest 1992 with "Yamma, yamma", sung by Pave Maijanen after they won the Finnish national final. Before Eurovision National final The Finnish broadcaster, Yleisradio Oy (YLE), held a national final to select the Finnish entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 1992, held in Malmö, Sweden. The contest was held at the Typhon Hall in Turku on 29 February, hosted by Kati Bergman. 10 songs competed, with the winner being decided through two rounds of jury voting, the first to select the top 4 songs, with the second selecting the winner. The winner of the contest was Pave Maijanen with the song "Yamma, yamma", composed by Maijanen and written by Hector. At Eurovision Maijanen performed 12th on the night of the contest, following Iceland and preceding Switzerland. "Yamma, yamma" received 4 points, placing last of 23 countries competing. Pave Maijanen
Pekka Juhani "Pave" Maijanen (3 September 1950 – 16 January 2021) was a Finnish musician, who worked as a singer, songwriter, bass player, keyboard player, drummer, guitarist and producer during his long career. As well as his solo career, Maijanen was a member of The Royals, Rock'n'Roll Band, Pepe & Paradise and he was the keyboard player and producer of Dingo and the Hurriganes. Maijanen's first work as a producer was for the album '' Nuclear Nightclub'' by Wigwam. Career Pave Maijanen was born in Lappeenranta, and became interested in music at the age of 6, when he started playing the harmonica. In the 1960s, he was already playing in several bands, the most famous of which was ''Mielikummitus'', the background band of singer Kristian. Maijanen's music career continued as the bass player of the famous band Pepe & Paradise and as the vocalist of The Royals. Kaija Pohjola
Kaija Pohjola (born 26 September 1951 in Kuopio, Finland) is a Finnish singer. She first came to fame as a tango singer; now her repertoire includes evergreens and Finnish pop. Yugoslavia participated for the last time in the Eurovision Song Contest 1992, held in Malmö, Sweden as the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (consisting of Serbia and Montenegro). The last Yugoslav representative was Extra Nena with the song "Ljubim te pesmama". Before Eurovision Jugovizija 1992 The national final was held on 28 March 1992 in the RTV Belgrade Studios in Belgrade. The show was hosted by Dragana Katić and Radoš Bajić. The Yugoslav national broadcaster, JRT, invited all Yugoslav republics to participate in the national final, however, Slovenian and Croatian broadcasters didn't send any entries as their independence had widespread recognition by January 1992. The Eurovision Song Contest 1987 was the 32nd edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Brussels, Belgium, following the country's victory at the with the song "J'aime la vie" by Sandra Kim. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster RTBF, Radio-télévision belge de la Communauté française (RTBF), the contest was held at the Brussels Expo, Centenary Palace on 9 May 1987 (also Europe Day) and was hosted by French-Belgian singer Viktor Lazlo. Twenty-two countries took part in the contest with and returning to the competition after their absences the previous year. Richard Esko "Riki" Sorsa (26 December 1952 – 10 May 2016) was a Finnish pop singer. He started his career in 1974 as the lead singer in the band The Zoo. He represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 1981 with the entry " Reggae OK", a reggae influenced song in Finnish which came 16th (out of 20 countries). Veikko Olavi "Vexi" Salmi (; 21 September 1942 – 8 September 2020) was a Finnish lyricist. He wrote the lyrics to numerous popular songs for several prominent artists, including Irwin Goodman, Jari Sillanpää, and Katri Helena. His career as a lyricist began in the 1960s, and continued until his death. During his prolific career, he wrote the lyrics for over 4,000 songs, more than 2,400 of which have been recorded. Heikki Veikko Harma (born 20 April 1947 in Helsinki, Finland) is a Finnish singer-songwriter who has also distinguished himself as a translator of song lyrics, but has written popular lyrics of his own too. To the public he is better known by the name Hector, which he has used since the release of his 1965 debut single "Palkkasoturi", a Finnish translation of Buffy Sainte-Marie's " Universal Soldier".
