Riki Sorsa
Richard Esko "Riki" Sorsa (26 December 1952 – 10 May 2016) was a Finnish pop singer. He started his career in 1974 as the lead singer in the band The Zoo. He represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 1981 with the entry " Reggae OK", a reggae influenced song in Finnish which came 16th (out of 20 countries). The song was composed by Jim Pembroke, the lyrics were written by Olli Ojala, and it was conducted by Otto Donner. Sorsa released several albums, singing in Finnish, Swedish, and English. Sorsa died of cancer on 10 May 2016. Personal life Sorsa's parents were Esko Sorsa, a goldsmith and entrepreneur, and Margaretha von Bahr, a ballerina. Kojo (singer)
Timo Kojo (born 9 May 1953, in Helsinki) is a Finnish pop rock singer. He started his recording career in 1977 when his band, Madame George, released their only album, ''Madame George: What's Happening?''. Kojo's first solo album, ''So Mean'', was a hit in Finland. The second sold equally well, though it was not considered quite as good. In 1981, however, his third solo album was a flop. In the Eurovision Song Contest of 1982 he represented his country with the entry ''Nuku pommiin'' (Oversleep!), a rock song with music by Jim Pembroke and lyrics by Juice Leskinen; the conductor was Ossi Runne. The song performed in Finnish was a protest against nuclear bombs and the danger of a nuclear war in Europe (the Cold War was still under way in 1982). The song received no points (''nul points''). Nuku Pommiin
Finland was represented by Kojo, with the song "Nuku pommiin", at the 1982 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Harrogate on 24 April. Kojo was the winner of the Finnish national final for the contest, held on 19 February. The song was chosen through a national final organised by broadcaster Yle. Before Eurovision Euroviisukarsinta 1982 The national final was held at the Kulttuuritalo in Helsinki, hosted by Heikki Kahila. The winner was chosen by an "expert" jury. At Eurovision On the night of the final Kojo performed 6th in the running order, following Turkey and preceding Switzerland. At the close of voting "Nuku pommiin" received "nul points", placing Finland 18th (last) of the 18 entries. The Finnish jury awarded its 12 points to the runner up song from Israel. The Zoo
''The Zoo'' is a one-act comic opera, with music by Arthur Sullivan and a libretto by B. C. Stephenson, writing under the pen name of Bolton Rowe. It premiered on 5 June 1875 at the St. James's Theatre in London (as an afterpiece to W. S. Gilbert's ''Tom Cobb''), concluding its run five weeks later, on 10 July 1875, at the Haymarket Theatre. There were brief revivals in late 1875, and again in 1879, before the opera was shelved. The farcical story concerns two pairs of lovers. First, a nobleman, who goes to the zoo to woo the girl who sells snacks there. He tries to impress her by buying and eating all of the food. The other couple is a young chemist who believes that he has poisoned his beloved by mixing up her father's prescription with peppermint that he had meant for her. The score was not published in Sullivan's lifetime, and it lay dormant until Terence Rees purchased the composer's autograph at auction in 1966 and arranged for publication.
